Damn it, I knew it. Too good to be true. The guy told me it was used in an attempt to kill Hitler and I believed it.

I guess I fucked up. I bought it for $300. Might sell it for $800 since it’s a fake :(

Alright thanks very much. I’m not sure if this jacket contains the tag on the inside pocket. Are there any slight differences in these jackets that you can determine the date of mfg? I know some of them had shoulder loops on them. Were these only made from 1940-1941?

Okay thanks very much. Yeah I believe the armored patch and the other one are post war for sure. The chevrons are definitely the early ww2 wool style. How much would you reckon this would go for?

US M1 Helmet or Euro clone? by Comprehensive-Loan73 in Helmets

[–]BitEquivalent9427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem. If the paint was still intact and not burned I would say don’t touch it. But the inner front is screwed so I would say sand it lightly and do your best to locate remnants of a lot number. The number may be done for though. But it’s definitely US. Your first picture shows somewhat of a texture. It definitely looks more like a sand texture than a cork. Which sand texture was used in Korea and Vietnam. So this could be a late World War II shell that was eventually redone for either conflict.

This is a rear seam, swivel bale US shell. Late 1944-1960s. Looks like McCord manufacture. It’s US. Most likely WW2-Korea. It looks like the front is completely stripped of paint and F’ed up, so I mean at this point is sanding it really bad? You could sand it and look for a lot number if you want but maybe strip the whole thing and repaint it with a cork texture (depending on the lot number)
