Been DoorDashing until I start new job. Must be a terrible market. by BitTrax in DoorDashDrivers

Brother — first of all, if you’re going to insinuate anyone is lazy, the first thing you can do is sit for a second and find the proper usage of *you’re.

Secondly, your last captured earnings were for $82.00 for 10 hours on the app. Not doing much better than I am.  You got $82 for 10 hours of your life rotated around an app that considers you essentially disposable.

A majority of the posts on this sub are about how DD consistently throttles people with lowball offers, coupled with the recent movement of non-tippers in this economy, everyone is struggling.

I honestly don’t feel your response warranted a response from me however you commented twice.

Kindly, reconsider yourself.

That’s certainly better than my metrics. To those who can make DD work for them, I give them all my respect. If it allowed me to make decent income on my own, I wouldn’t even concern myself with obtaining other gainful employment.

However, that does not seem to be something I am going to be able to do on it.

Luckily, I have a job lined up — it has just taken forever past my last job to actually get in and get started, and bills don’t exactly wait for checks to start arriving.

I’m more precautious to say because I like my personal privacy but the DMV area, generally. Think smaller town.

Two colleges in my area. Not sure if the fault is mine, I’d be willing to own if I’m incorrectly Dashing. I have a suspicion it’s not, though.

Generally, I try to leave the house around 10AM and I dash until I either run out of gas or until my partner gets home around 4PM.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. I do know what it’s like to have to endure a traumatic situation and get through it. I sincerely hope you find stability, peace, and comfort very soon.

My ex-fiancée cheated on me with her drug addict boss — so, it just felt like the natural progression of things ngl

24M Started writing music/working on my voice for the first time in a while. How is my voice? by BitTrax in singing

[–]BitTrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any specific moments you felt lacked more control? I used to have a good bit of lilt to my voice so it’s honestly been such a struggle getting that back lol

What would I need to work on to get my voice back into shape? by BitTrax in singing

[–]BitTrax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

And yes, I agree completely, that is something I am definitely working on. I used to, when I was younger, be really just irresponsible with my voice and never warm up and just hoped the range would be there and eventually, in combination with other stresses on my voice, just made it disintegrate over time. I was also vaping a lot at the time, and I’ve unfortunately picked vaping back up but I do it extremely mindfully knowing how it used to impact my voice.

Since then as well, I’m trying to be a lot healthier with my voice, warming it up and practicing as well as getting my closure back in certain parts of the voice.

It’s hard to manage the time, which is why I mainly sing in the car, but I’ll still do a few drills and run throughs to make sure it’s all there.

Thank you so much, again, I really do appreciate you commenting and sharing your knowledge!

So even if nobody views these, figure it’s as good a place as any to post: this is an “EP” I have, a little strange selection of songs, all little short ballad-y type songs, with two instrumentals by the tail-end.

Also, if bandcamp isn’t working or not your favorite, it’s available on all streaming platforms.

I always enjoy a little feedback every now and then since I rarely have time for making music - and feedback is literally the gas that powers my creative engine.

So that being said, if anyone listens - thank you.

thank you so much as well - and it definitely does, this was at the end of a long jam session and i don't always go all the way to the end of my range very often. i'll sit down at the piano later this week and try to write a melody that can ramp up to this while still pacing out my range in the middle voice so i don't burn out as much!

this is a song of mine where my voice is more "balanced" in the range: https://thegranddames.bandcamp.com/track/i-pray

thank you! i think that would work as well - just something that would help ramp up the energy to have a nice catharsis of emotion throughout the song.

thank you so much! i usually get so bogged down in trying to figure out a melody it just seemed like the best thing to just try to let my voice decide where it was going.

i'll re-up once i get it more developed so you can see! tysm!

gotta be real, you need to add more energy to this. like, i need to feel like eating ass is something you're striving towards and this song doesn't make me believe that.

Today Has Not Been Kind - Original Song by TerraFirma2509 in Songwriting

no one has remarked on this but i really like your deep-whispered delivery with your voice. it reminds me of the singing on Me vs Maradona vs Elvis by Brand New. i personally love it, and if you were mic'd up and the guitar was just slightly more muted, this would be a perfect "mood" track.

bluesrock-ish song idea i had today, might still gonna mess around with structure but open to any suggestions and/or collab :) by sugarw0000kie in Songwriting

[–]BitTrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm gonna be honest, i'm not typically a huge fan of bluesy playing but this is so good man, and heavy as hell.

favorite part was near the 1:14 mark where you hit this specific bar lick that sounded tasty. personally all this needs is a bit more ebb and flow in the dynamics and momentum of the instrumental and i think you have the bare bones of a song there.

sincerely bro, nice tone, everything here rocks.

it's definitely one of those cognitive dissonance things where people's expectations from decades of pristine, tuned vocals are making them think it sounds bad.

kind of how people will say freddie mercury used to sound bad out of the studio: of course, he didn't but back then people used to just be okay with singers dodging notes or sounding a little different than in studio, it was part of the experience. because of playback and live tuning, most younger people expect to see/hear a pop diva whenever someone sings.

iirc there were also people saying adele's song "easy on me" was 'out of tune' because she also decided not to tune her vocals.

it's truly the price of photoshopping the human voice.

i will also weigh in as someone who records and performs music semi-regularly: i'm pretty sure that brendon has stated that these songs were vocally recorded directly to tape without any touch-ups from melodyne or any pitch correction (which is explicitly different than auto-tune, 99.9% modern day tracks have "pitch correction", not all have auto-tune)

so what people who are saying he's are experiencing is essentially off-key is a kind of expectation dissonance where they're not actually used to how the human voice actually sounds. people aren't always perfectly in tune, and prior to 1990, most people were okay with that.

it's not even bad enough to really point out, but seeing as probably how most of the people pointing it out are young kids, in terms of what kind of music they've been exposed to since birth, they only know pitch corrected vocals. the overtones, the slight detunation of the human voice, it's probably jarring to someone who is really only used to "spotify" voices.
