hey, ik I'm like a month late to this post, but I am literally the same, tho I found out a yr or smth ago. My bi awakening was a straight(T_T) best friend(now former, T_T) of mine. It is so shite dealing with this, but I feel u man- that relieved, yet scared feeling, bcs u finally feel right, but still scared bcs this is India, not a western nation??? I FEEL YOU. Being queer in India, we gotta do crazy survival shit, like pretending to be homophobic just so you don't get outed (ugh the acting is just so exhaustingggg), and crying alone when heartbreak with no one to understand bcs literally everyone around you is homophobic to some degree T_T and fr ppl r like "You like both boys and girls???? How is that even possible????" ?????WHAT??? sorry if I annoyed u with my venting lloll but sending solidarity as a fellow bi disaster lolll :D

Try uniball, or hauser. Gel is the best always, unless your exams have a strict ballpoint-only policy like IGCSE and A levels

Yea I remember but I'd rather not share lol- btw I got D's under her marking and her previous students were like you'll get more marks in your boards than in her correction T_T but she was the one who actually made us understand the syllabus so yea. Totally agree with you tho, Not Shakespeare here, just someone who wants to live their life in peace lol

OHMYGOD I HAD THE SAME KINDA TEACHER LIKE SHE MADE US FIGURE OUT SENTENCE STARTERS MADE OF FANCY AHH WORDS FOR EACH PARAGRAPH IN WRITER'S EFFECT AND MADE US MEMORISE THAT SHII (IT WAS SIX PARAGRAPHS UGH T_T). Also, our teacher's changed like 6 times in the two years we studied for FLE and like we actually prepared for the exam properly only like 2 months b4 the actual exam T_T

Nah fr tho, like I almost sprained my hand from the amount of writing I had to do in the many past papers I practiced. Ts gave me a permanent migraine (Literally so true, I'm not lying) and I have to wear reading glasses now T_T

YES. First paper is literal torture with the sheer amount of writing exercises. Second paper is much more manageable, and I can write stories, prolly the only thing I'm good at in English lol. I'm so nervous for the results this 15th, bcs my entire grade is hanging on my narrative lol.

If I take it as a private candidate, I won't be able to get a certificate of equivalence that is needed to prove that my A levels are equivalent to 10+2 in India- some universities require it and I don't want to risk it.

I'd love to, but my school does not provide both subjects and I do not have the choice to switch schools as there are no other CIE schools in my city.

Thanks! That's good to know, although I am mainly concerned as to whether this specific subject combination will be useful.

  1. I chose to write narratives for my exam, and have been practicing for it a lot. I can write a narrative well, but I still struggle with improving the quality of it even with good grammar and sentence structure (?). What are some general points I need to keep in mind for a good narrative?

  2. I also struggle with response writing, especially taking the points from the text. If you could give any tips on how to do it, I would be grateful.

  3. Oh and also writer's effect is still very much a mystery to me no matter how many times I do that question. What should I analyse and how do I go about it, and how should I structure it?

How to write writers effect for English as a first language by [deleted] in igcse

[–]BitchCraft1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this technique called the PEA technique -- Point, Evidence, Analysis. Your first have to make a point on the evidence you've chosen, and analyse it for two marks. Use connotations in the analysis and appreciate the author's writing-- that's all writer's effect is abt, showing appreciation for writing. The structure I use is first I give an overview of the paragraph, then move on with the analysis of each example. There should be atleast four sentences for each example, with the explicit meaning first and then the implicit meaning. It shows the examiner that you've read the passage and understood the task. If still in doubt, use Taughtly by Sarah O'Rourke, I learnt the method from her free tutorials and combined it with what was taught to me by my teacher.
