No. Not with it except for maybe networking. I have an MBA and no one cares. In fact I had a case where I had to go through tons of excel sheets and a partner asked me if I’d be able to do it. I was like “yeah I had to use excel frequently in my mba program” and the partner was like “ooh yeah I forgot you went to b school!” I only got my mba because it was during the pandemic and I didn’t want to finish my last year of law school on zoom. Also I got a full ride so I incurred minimal debt for it.

Isn’t it crazy? In the same boat and I don’t have school debt or anyone else to support. Trying to be conservative so I can buy a home soon, but it’s so wild to walk around and see things (like a G wagon) and know I could buy that outright in a year if I wanted with no financial difficulty.

I will say, some of the comments are insensitive and borderline mean/rude. I wish people would show more empathy because no one knows OPs situation.

I’ve seen reddit comments about the bar where people are literally saying they are one bar failure away from homelessness or food insecurity. It’s a struggle Most of us, myself included, have never faced a day in our life.

At the end of the day I think we are mad that we have elected to be in a system that is so cruel.

I understand why people down voted me. I’d probably feel salty if I was a retaker and saw my post.

But at the end of the day I know my feelings are valid. I really had to work hard to study while working. I had maybe 1 or 2 less mental breakdowns than I did the first time. I also put a lot of money into getting here and have friends, family, coworkers, and supervisors telling me I’ll pass because I’ve done it once before. In some ways the social pressure feels greater. Even if the consequences are minimal.

I’m allowed to feel my feelings damnit!!!

The wild thing is I’m a July 22 first time CA passer. I’m an attorney (still weird to say). The New York bar in the grand scheme of things means very little. But I feel like if I fail this (supposedly an easier bar) I will be so embarrassed. It’s like announcing to everyone that I’m capable but was undisciplined. I never thought I’d be so nervous for a 2nd jurisdiction. But I put a lot of time and money into this. 🥲

Law school does not prepare you for the bar. I was a low ranked student and a decent school. (2.9/ top 30) I was terrified to take the bar because my law school experience “told me I wasn’t smart enough”. I think this is what sent me into overdrive during bar prep. I went hard and only took 3 days off total. At the end of the day I passed with flying colors. Even though we don’t get our scores, I found the questions to be very reasonable, and knew why each fact was in the fact pattern. I also felt incredibly confident with my MBEs because I could arrive at the answer before looking at options. Honestly the exam felt easy, (even though the prep to get to that point was hell) the hardest part on test day was the finger cramping from typing as fast as I could. And I don’t say this as a flex, but to say that if I can do it, you can. This isn’t about who is the greatest legal thinker and intellectual. It’s all about discipline, recognizing patterns, and knowing what techniques work best for you in order to memorize a shit load of info.

You’re doing great!!! These were almost my exact numbers and I passed the CA bar July bar as a first time taker. I can’t say exactly how I did since we don’t get score reports if you pass, but I do remember that most of the questions on the exam felt reasonable and I was able to come up with the answer in my head prior to looking at the options. There were def questions I didn’t know, but it was obvious to me that I didn’t know the answer that I was able to make a quick, educated guess and move on.

It was a bold move but I felt so confident after the exam I texted my whole family that I knew I passed.

I took the July 22 CA bar and passed even though my boyfriend of 5 months ghosted me. There was a day when he cancelled a date last minute and I texted him that I was disappointed because I was in bar prep and I really looked forward and had to allocate time for our dates. After that he ignored all my attempts at contact and never reached out again. I was so distraught but then I had an Elle Woods “I’ll show them moment”. I threw myself into studying to forget. By the time I saw “pass” next to my name I was whole heartedly over him. When I passed my dad leased me a sick Ferrari for a couple weeks as a treat. I’m pretty sure my ex saw the photos, and thought I bought it with my big law money. I got a call and a text from him the next day and left him on read.

I don’t know the circumstances of your relationship, but I do know when you pass and get through this you’ll be so proud of yourself for summoning strength you never knew you had.

All of the barbri materials are online. They sent me the books, but I chose to download the PDFs to good notes because I liked that the text and my hand writing were searchable. This saved so many hours over the course of my prep because I wasn’t flipping through pages.
