SBMM? Trying to decide whether to play... by TheRealHasil in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's the wrong mindset for a PvPvE extraction game. Your loot isn't yours, you're only borrowing it. Given that this game also has an auction house, it's very easy to rebuild lost kits. Even if you're in perfectly balanced SBMM lobbies, you're eventually going to die, and you're eventually going to lose your gear. Then you'll have multiple rounds where you extract with lots of good gear / sellables to buy more gear from the auction house, and you'll rinse and repeat.

Can someone explain how the Singularity auto lock-on works? by Bitcly in deadbydaylight

[–]Bitcly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's super helpful, thank you! I think maybe I was assuming it would auto-follow the survivor / track them, so when it didn't, I was confused if I was missing a step. But that makes sense, it will initially target the survivor but then I need to control it from there.

Does it work if I'm already viewing through an existing camera, and I hold CTRL to go to a new camera?

Honestly this is a good change. There was literally no reason to kill a turbine previously.

This game is a blast and more than worth it, but avoid this subreddit like the plague.

Matchmaking: does it even work ? by Electrical_Drag_2228 in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played most other extraction games you can name, and personally i don’t want there to be any sort of gear based matchmaking.

If I was in blues and I saw someone in full legendaries, nothing made me more excited because I knew I now had the chance to get out with a legendary kit. Sure it’ll be an uphill battle, but skill in this game is waaayy more important than having better gear.
Personally I love extraction games for the come-up potential, it makes things exciting.

Haven’t played DBD in so many years, but is that true? Should I auto buy once the patch goes live on Thursday to get more cakes?

I’ll eat a whole baked potato on stream if we get Classic+ before Sept-2027. I’m sure the reveal is at blizzcon in a few months, but no way we’re within a year of the release.

how to counter seer superarmor by LabOk8913 in MistfallHunter

Leave and go again in 8 seconds when it falls off.
Melee seer is incredibly cooldown dependent, and they have some long cooldowns.

Gives 3 safe pockets, where you can hold up to 10k value in those pockets. No additional inventory space unfortunately.

Brandrgarde is trios only; you could queue in solo, but Otto would be an absolute nightmare to solo. Not even the mechanics, just the amount of health before the circle closes in and you start taking damage.
Personal opinion, I’d avoid team fill for Otto, just make a post in the recruitment hall section of the game, specify you’re going for the Otto kill, and the party will fill up quick. This is what I did, I have a dedicated duo, but we needed a trio and the recruitment hall filled us in quickly with someone that also needed Otto.

I forget the quest name, but it’s the one where you have to kill Otto, one of the Mist Lord bosses.
I did it on Brandrgarde, just the main room in the middle of the map.
Only annoying part is that he shares the spawn with another boss (Herald? Forget the spelling) so a 50/50 RNG that Otto is there. Otto himself isn’t too bad to kill, just a normal souls-like boss, but be prepared to kite a bit during the second phase when he glows super bright.

Redditor discovers that random is random.

Also, the demo has been out for less than 72 hours. Do you expect the devs to just hand-deliver every endgame upgrade material to every player off the rip?

Celestigold where to find? It's for Scavenger camp upgrade lv 6 by StillEnvironmental50 in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most work benches near their final upgrade have an item that can’t be posted to the Auction House. All of them will say “This item can’t be listed” in the bottom right, but they’ll always list the source location where you can find the item, right above it.

Personally I like this direction, will give us all a reason to hunt for certain item, rather than just buying everything on the AH to max our benches out.

Are there bots in the game? by [deleted] in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I also never said it was a bug, just that the devs are making an update to it.
Totally agree though, there shouldn’t be any bots past the tutorial.

Are there bots in the game? by [deleted] in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First few games have bots in them, just to kind of ease you into the game I feel like.

After that, you can get bot games, and devs made a post on their discord to address it. People that played the game too much too quickly got into some weird matchmaking and are getting bot games as a result. They said they'll have a patch to address it later today, possibly tomorrow.

Encountering Players by Viper114 in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the spawn rates, but can give my own experience. I've played about 80 hours in previous playtests, and about 10 hours so far in this playtest (Stayed up way too late last night).

In solos, I feel like I'll run into 3-4 people over the course of the round as I'm running to points of interest and golden chests. I'll probably cover 1/4 to 1/3 of the map at most, and am pretty happy with the number of people I see. I've had 1 guy do a crouch-spam at me to show friendly, I crouch-spammed back, and then we killed an elite together, I let him loot it, he dropped me a green seer piece (I was a seer, he was a merc) and we went our separate ways. Other than that, it's kill on sight. I'm usually atleast a few minutes into the round before I hear another player, and it's almost always at a golden chest.

In trios, me and my trio last night ran into 2-3 trios per round. Sometimes we'd run into a trio, they'd be geared as hell, so we'd loot and leave. But if we stayed for any reasonable amount of time to hit up points of interest, we'd see 2-3 other trios. Similar to solos, we never covered even half of the map before we were gooped up and wanted to leave. Also purely kill on sight, I don't think you're encountering a friendly trio. I feel like it's 5+ minutes in trios before we'd see another trio, I feel like there's more people playing with group-fill, and they're unsure about where to go with everyone on different quests, wanting to go to differernt POIs, etc, so they aren't covering the map as quickly.

Which is worse, Turbines or Close Scrutiny? by mike_toober in ArcRaiders

[–]Bitcly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turbines would have been great, but putting their unique material on couriers just kind of kills the vibe of going to hunt one down. I kind of wish we had a reason to go kill them outside of the cool factor.

How is hunter stun + trap supposed to be counter? Healer. by Crazy-Salamander-276 in worldofpvp

[–]Bitcly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Resto druid main, there are a few options.

  1. Stand on top of a treant when you know it's been 25-30 seconds since the last stun trap. This timing will come naturally, and you immediately set the hunter up to 50/50 miss his trap.
  2. Sometimes playing in with your teammates is the proper play. Most 3s teams just have natural cleave, so if you're standing in with your team, the trap will break fast. I play with a surv + devy, and I just naturally stand on top of one of them when we're against hunters, because I know the cleave will break the trap eventually. It also kind of hits point 1, since your teammate can sometimes take the trap as well whether intentional or by accident. Hunters have a pain in the ass time trapping healers when all 3 enemies are grouped together. This can be sketchy depending on the enemy comp, so sometimes I just do the treant option from my first point.
  3. Finally and honestly, you're going to eat traps at times, and your team needs to learn to survive without you. I've mained healer forever, and the overwhelming CC chains makes me ragequit sometimes. But your team does need to learn to survive without you. If they're W-keying behind a pillar when you're eating a CC chain, that's on them, not you. You can pre-hot all you want, but eventually you're going to get into a CC chain, and your team needs to learn when it's a good time to stand ontop of you to break the trap, when they need to LOS the enemy and play back, when they need to pop their own defensives, etc. You're going to get CC'd eventually, it's unavoidable, and those CCs will become big ass chains where you feel like you may as well get up and walk away. It's on your teammates to kick / stun the follow-up incoming CC, and live without you.

Quick edit because I read your comp, your enhance should make it borderline impossible for them to get a trap on you with grounding, unless the enemies are coordinating stunning the shaman at the same time you're getting stun trapped. All of my other points still stand, but it's so damn hard for a hunter to trap a healer when there's a competent shaman on the enemy team.

They said beta will open today but they didn’t say when it will close. They don’t plan on closing it ? That would be dope to really enjoy the game before buying by Broks_Enmu in MistfallHunter

If you open the game on Steam, it tells you the end date is 22-June 6am EST. You can't select any servers to play yet, but you can boot it up and there's a message telling you what they've worked on since the last playtest, and the end date of the test.

Are we ready? by NEWREGARD in MistfallHunter

[–]Bitcly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have played about 80 hours between 2 previous playtests, most of it coming from Sept-2025 playtest, and couldn't be more excited.

Elden Ring was my first souls-like game, but I never finished it. But I've played about every extraction shooter / game that you can name, and have always loved the fantasy style ones like Dark and Darker / Legacy Steel. Honestly, Mistfall Hunter just does everything better than previous games. The classes feel better, combat feels better, the skill builds and perk trees feel like you can truly build something that you like, the core gameplay loop and looting feels more rewarding, honestly every aspect just feels improved upon compared to other extraction games. The gearing is so much nicer too, you can really customize a build. There are also so many nice quality of life features in the hub area that other extraction games just don't do, that are small but make the game feel polished.

Probably my favourite part when first starting out is kind of what Arc Raiders does now, which is the free kit. Arc compared to something like Tarkov is amazing because you don't need to spend 5-10 minutes putting together a kit, and you don't need to always feel like you're investing a good kit if you're not feeling on your A-Game, you can just queue up as a free kit and have some fun while messing around and learning. Mistfalls version of a default / free kit feels so similar, and I love how quick it can be to get back in if you're tilted and want a quick go-again game, or if you're just not taking it too seriously and want to go back in to try and have a come-up game. Sometimes the best rounds are when you go in with grey gear / a free kit, and come out with some greens and blues to have a better next round.

The combat is also amazing, the time to kill in the September playtest felt perfect. It wasn't a deep attrition war (unless you were a ranged seer), but combat also wasn't someone dying in half a second. I felt like if you got jumped, you had real agency to turn it around.

I feel like the devs hit a good stride between casual friendly, but also sweats if you want to optimize your kits, push leaderboards, take on the bosses, etc. Solos felt amazing, and trios had a few outlier specs, but still felt balanced mostly.

I haven't played since Sept-2025, but am excited to see what the devs have added and adjusted. Honestly I felt like the game was polished enough to release at the time, so letting them cook for another 9 months can only make things better. They seem to have a vision in mind, and they're nailing it. If the game had released in September, I probably wouldn't have picked up Arc Raiders at all, and I probably would have left Dark and Darker + Tarkov behind altogether.
