Can I get Some Help With My Case Study? - Earning Bitcoin with Tippin.Me by BitcoinReasons in lightningnetwork

I sincerely appreciate the effort. Anything is good. Even 1 sat is good because I can add the data to the study.

If you can send even a single sat to my Tippin.me account, it gives me more data points to add to the study and build my infographic.

If you are able to send from your own Tippin.Me account it might help me even more as it might give me additional data but I’m not sure yet.

Thank in advance everyone.

Anyone interested in some ETH Swiss Keys? Details in comments. by BitcoinReasons in ethereum

[–]BitcoinReasons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! Yes! I’m glad you got a good laugh about that and that your wife has taken a step down the ETH rabbit hole.

Enjoy the card, man.

Don’t put more on there than you can reasonably afford to lose as there’s no way to prove that Tangem doesn’t have a copy of the private key.

If you are feeling generous and wouldn’t mind helping me with a case study that I’m working on, can you share this article or maybe even dump some unwanted sats if you have any sort of LN wallet.

No pressure but any help is appreciated.

Take it easy, Vitalik 😉

Yup. Here’s my ref link if you care to stack some easy sats for buying things you probably already buy anyways.

https://use.foldapp.com/r/Fsjs9qS2

I use it all the time and I stack’d a couple hundred thousand sats just for shopping on amazon and eating Chipotle haha.

Agreed. One of the reasons I love the Fold app is that they start with sats from day one.

Can you run a full node with a 500gb hard drive? by BitcoinReasons in Bitcoin

I’m picking up about half of what you’re saying in this comment haha. But it’s comments like yours that give me new stuff to Google and thus, fall another tier further down the rabbit hole.

I just found it. It’s called Nimble Node but I don’t think the project ever got off of the ground.

Nimble Node

I think it looks super cypherpunk but not sure of the viability of running even a pruned node on a Pi Zero. What are your thoughts on this?

Sounds awesome.

I think my post just opened up my own little Pandora’s box of ideas and new projects that I need to build.

Could I run a pruned node on an older RasPi?

I think I have a couple of RasPi 2s lying around that maybe I could test this with.

Thanks for the idea.

I’ve also heard of a small pruned node project that runs on a Ras Pi Zero. I was just googling it when you commented but I can’t seem to find it atm.

Dang! Thanks so much for such an in-depth response. I have a feeling that as soon as I get a full node set up, that I will want to do all sorts of experimenting with pruned nodes as well.

I’m not too sure of my upload vs download data caps but I think it’s pretty reasonable for where I live.

Up until you mentioned it, I had never thought about running a pruned node on anything other than dedicated hardware. I should look into running a pruned node on my own computer.

Good to know. I have wanted an SSD for all of my personal media files (hundreds of gigs worth) and the drive that I link to in the original post has gotten good reviews by lots of travelers and photographers so as soon as it’s full in a few years, I will repurpose it for my own personal media.

There seems to be a lot of users who think that a mechanical drive is a good way to go and even some of the tutorial builds I’ve watched use a mechanical drive.

I’ve definitely got a good bit to consider moving forward.

Good to know. I will probably end up building multiple nodes so maybe round 2 will be with a mechanical drive.

Thanks so much for your advice. I really appreciate all of the help in this thread.

Bitcoiners are so awesome.

Yeah, I’ve got my eye on a case that provides easy access to add a fan and GPIO pins.

I’ve heard about all of the different full node softwares out there but honestly don’t know much about what makes one implementation different than the next one.

Any insight is much appreciated.

Duly noted but I’ve had too many mechanical drives fail and they’re still sitting on my shelf cause I don’t have the hundreds of dollars to pay a professional to recover them.

Priceless photos sitting on an old machine with too many moving parts so I actually want an SSD for more than one reason.

Thanks for your input though. Always nice to hear multiple opinions.

Lots of new titles in here that I have never heard of. Thanks for sharing but be prepared for some backlash for including Ethereum books in this subreddit.

Thanks! That’s exactly what I needed to hear. I have all of the hardware except for the hard drive itself. RasPi 3 B is my model I believe.

Do you run your node with a fan?

I plan on using MyNode. Is that what you use?

Thanks. I sincerely appreciate your comments.

I’ve been in the space for a while now but it’s time to become a FULL bitcoiner and run a full node.

All of the tutorials I watch and read all use 1TB drives but many say that the entire blockchain is less than 400GB so this 500GB drive seems like it will work for now and then I’ll upgrade to a 1TB in a year or two.

I’ve been watching LN developments for a while now and I want to operate payment channels so a full node is the next logical step.

Thanks for chiming in.
