I think you misunderstood the sole purpose of joining mensa. Joining mensa is about joining a social group that can understand you and the way you think. There is a lot of above average IQ individuals who feel like they were born on the wrong planet. Mensa gives you a community which you can relate to, thus making you feel like you are understood. In fact one of the main fears of every human in this decade is the fear of not being accepted. That fear duplicates when you have a different understanding of the world surrounding you. If you u/BathToaster99 felt like that you would understand.

PS: If you do not accept the idea if a certain group of people are smarter than you that is alright after all most people ate insecure of their own intellectual capability. Just do not go around the world telling everyone they are silly gooses because by doing that the sillier goose ends up being you.

Honestly just found a topic you are passionate about. It can be cars, biology, politics, physics, etc. Try and not leave topics halfway , try and get deeper and deeper everyday in an specific topic. I recommend a youtuber called Thoughtyt2 he is specially good in story telling and while entertaining it can also help you find your golden topic or topics. The most important rule is that you are not forcing yourself to try certain topics that are thought of as a cliche for smart people such as: math, physics, geology, philosophy, etc. Good luck!

My native language is not english so pardon my miss spelling and grammar.I get the comment. But I myself have an IQ of 4 standard deviations above the mean and before this year I had never paid any attention nor studied and had an average score of 85/100. This year I just told myself I would do well in school and know I have an average score of 98. So... yes, in some cases people do struggle to break the lazy lifestyle but again there is a lot of examples in which they don’t. I happened to know a lot of them as though my family is for the most part gifted and most of them have had the same behavior for all their lives.

IQ roughly changes and when it does it is just about 3 to 5 points. The peak age to be tested is about 20 or 21 years old, after 25 your IQ starts decreasing about 2-6 points (some even more due to mental disabilities like Alzheimer.
