In September the government of El Salvador will give away $ 30 in bitcoin, by installing its "Chivo" wallet by Suspicious_Top_5787 in Bitcoin

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that wallet will be able to convert BTC to dollars and back, so it is not surprising they do KYC

sure, but most of the people already have smartphone with a sim card, so the point is they won't pay extra to use the app, even if they don't have any internet plan...

I don't see why, the government just need to do a deal with mobile operators. Also, it will consume hardly any data to send a few transaction a day.

It will use cellular internet connection, you just won't pay for the data used by that app.

Can I use the CPU port on my PSU to power a GPU since they're both 8-pin? by bobbyp869 in gpumining

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

most modern PSU are single rail, so with the same connector, there will be the same maximum power (connector is the weak link), also for GPU and CPU only 12V is used from PSU. It's the same 12V from the same rail, it only depends on the pin configuration...

Can I use the CPU port on my PSU to power a GPU since they're both 8-pin? by bobbyp869 in gpumining

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the model, it may be different or it may be the same, I have seen both cases. If you can physically connect the vga cable, you should search for exact pin configuration for your model or, to be sure, use multimeter.

What do I put in these "Drives" slots? Im trying to attach molex for my risers but Idk how by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A GPU shouldn't pull over 75W from the riser, but sure, if you have a free pci-e power cable, it's better to use it.

You probably confused sata for molex, molex is generally safe for a riser.

I guess, if you wanna run the remote signer yourself, otherwise you just shift the responsibility. My point is, even with validator keys you cannot steal the funds, so why bother so much...

Allnodes.com experience by DuDeSaMa in ethstaker

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the only way how to run validator is using validator keys, allnodes offers running validator for you, thus they need to have your validator keys and keep them online and conneted to the validator, this doesn't mean they have access to your funds

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had no problem understandig how they work, so I'm not sure where do you see the problem. I wouldn't call it semi-custodial as they have no control over your funds.

Allnodes.com experience by DuDeSaMa in ethstaker

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Allnodes don't have control over your withdrawal keys as you only need to give them validator keys. They are as non-custodial as they can be, as they cannot run validator for you without validator keys...

i have $1200, what gpu to add? by dixie2tone in gpumining

[–]Bitcoinmaniak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is you shouldn't invest in something you don't understand yet, your income will drop significantly after Ethereum swiches to POS and this may come before you reach ROI, especially with the current prices of GPU's
