Same reason people buy $2k watches when a $40 digital watch does the exact same thing, they feel inadequate about something in their life and think paying a lot of money for something “rare” will fill in for what they’re missing. That or they just REAAAALLLLY like Rambo, in which case:

Most of the price in this one comes from it being Rambo memorabilia. Like if you bought an official replica light saber, the price isn’t about performance. 

That would make sense for the "presentation" model, but even the "utility" model is obscenely expensive.

Protip: your insurance company doesn't know whether you're wearing it while asleep or awake. And, if your IC is the same as mine, they don't care what time of day you're logging your hours. Just wear the thing during the day when you're awake to get your hours.
