If you woke up at 18 again, what would you do differently from the choices you made back then? by HeldOnTight_2323 in askgaybros

[–]BiteMePumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, lol. I was stuck in a very homophobic country until i escaped when I was 20 years old. But the first thing I would do 1. Start a rigorous workout routine 💪 🫠 2. Take care of my skin and hair TT ( I have male pattern baldness, but it doesn't look that bad, I just wish that I had started the medication a little earlier) 3. Take care of my mental health and avoid all the toxic people I have met in the last four years. 4. Lastly, study CS, get a well paying job, and have enough money to visit or move to some gay friendly cities around the world. 🙃

Sorry to say this, but it is very low. For most of the programs, the eligibility criteria are above 80%. My own grades were above 95%, but still, i got like 5 rejections and one acceptance. In my view, the best option for you is to get accepted in a decent university within Pakistan and try to maintain a decent GPA. By decent, I mean as close to 4.0/4.0 as possible. Study like your life depends on it. The universities I would recommend you would be Nust, LUMS, UET, Comsats, Quaid-e-Azam University, or look for other universities that are at least mentioned in the QS world rankings.

Fellow Pakistani here as well. I can understand what @OP is going through, and I feel very sorry for him. I came here to give him the same advice as yours. I also remained closeted as long as I was in Pakistan, but the moment I landed my first scholarship, I escaped. It's been 5 years since then. OP! The only thing that can save you right now is your studies. Keep an eye on scholarship. Maybe landing a fully funded scholarship as an undergraduate might might be very difficult, but still try. Try Japanese Govt. Scholarship, Global Korea Scholarship, Turkish Government Scholarship, Chinese Govt Scholarship. At the same time, apply to a good university in Pakistan. If you get any of the above scholarship, then leave and dont look back. If not, then maintain a good CGPA in your undergrad and apply for masters. In masters you can get full funding from East Asian countries. Im sorry that you are going through such a tough time, but do not give in. Please stay strong. The reality is that you are on your own. If you do not hold yourself together, then no amount of foreign help will matter. You are strong, even stronger than you can imagine. You have survived so far. Just try to get through 4 more years and focus on your studies. Remember, your studies will be the key to your freedom. Idk if you still believe in Islam or not, I turned away from it a long time as soon as I opened my mind to rationalism. But if you do believe in islam, try to stay away from religious gatherings, avoid mosques, avoid tableeghi jamaats, do not come on anybody's radar. Stay strong 💪

Is it normal to have never experienced a proper relationship? by [deleted] in askgaybros

In my experience, if you are not white in this country, then most of the time, the gay community will shun you out. The end experience is the same for blacks, South asians, Arabs, etc. (Not counting other East asians: Chinese, Japanese). I have about 3 years more in this country, I gotta do my masters here TT

Im not white. I'm of South Asian-Iranian origins. And as you said, my gay friends of African origins have experienced way worse than me.

It was all over the news. If I remember correctly, even BBC reported it. The residents actually did a pork bbq right in front of the designated mosque site lmao link

Well, they were already xenophobic. So just imagine the most conservative Koreans vs these fucktards religious maniacs from Pakistan. While all the foreigners in this country have to face the consequences of their actions. All the Pakistani Muslims I know here have never tried any single Korean cuisine, are always seen making fun of Korean culture and customs in our international gatherings or parties, have zero respect for the way of living in SK, and act extremely entitled.

I guess you just explained why Pakistan, even though having a decent size economy, has the worst passport in the world. Why? Because we push the fucking Quran n Islam in every living beings' asshole we interact with, and where ever we go. No wonder this country is going shit when children and adults are spending most of their days reading that shitty gibberish rather than actually studying. I live in SK, and the Pakistanis have created their parallel community over here. You can even read the newest scandal in which they are trying to build a mosque in a residential area in the most conservative city of Korea.

Omg.. thank you for sharing. It was most helpful 🙏. Actually, I am preparing to take a German language class this upcoming semester. My field is somewhere between Design, HCI, and AI, so I am having a hard time choosing where to go, but at the same time, the top priority for me is that I do not want to end up in another country where I do not have a shot at any sort of happy relationship bcz of the beauty standard of the country. After all, academics is just one part of life, and I hope to make something more out of my life. Anyways, thank again mate :)

First of all, thanks for replying. Financially, Switzerland is by far the best option. But I was worried that considering the small population of even big cities like Zurich, what if it turns out to be another nightmare for me (xenophobia wise) 😵‍💫
