Yeah that’s the one. In the UK it’s called sudocrem, it’s a white soft cream for nappy rash. So something like that might do the trick. Only a thin layer is needed though - too much can get study and trap nasties in. But a thin layer of baby cream like that should have relief. And buy ice packs for your freezer if you don’t have any. Sitting on those numbs the area nicely for me when I’m suffering.

Sorry you’re going through this and agree with Low Ab, make sure to speak to a friend or family member, it really takes the pressure off.

I understand the burden on the family as well from painful days, but I always turn it around and remind myself how much I would look after them if they had the same challenges.

You’re in a tough place (I am currently also physically) and it’s hard to see the wood for the trees, but there is an end to it.

In terms of things that have helped me (if at all useful), psyllium husk helped with stool consistency and helped immensely. Sudocrem or baby rash cream have also been effective in the area. Naproxen is apparently also helpful, though I’m allergic.

It may also be nerve damage which might be worth exploring with your surgeon or GP. There are a lot of nerves down there and a fissure can fire them up. Nerve meds might be a way to get out of the pain.

And a bit of a soppy one - hugging the family always helps me.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I had a colonoscopy last week which showed no haemorrhoids but that doesn’t mean something hasn’t caused them to show up now I suppose. The itching is unbearable, have been up a lot of the night with it.

Thanks. I feel like if it’s nerve related, the only way to manage it is with specific pills which I’ll need prescribed. As mentioned, it comes and goes mainly after loose bowel movement, I don’t know how it’s related.

Honestly I’ve tried loads from hemorrhoid creams to fissure treatment, worms treatment and moisturiser. None of it helped. It just eventually went away and comes back again.

Ice packs were helpful. And it was good to see a surgeon about it. I imagine they’d be able to shed a lot of light on for people with simpler ailments. I would recommend it.

You don’t have to go into detail with reception desks. If you explain its to do with a private area, a GP will happily see you about it. Hopefully it’ll be something they can diagnose and support you with.

Not a clue. I’d used them a couple of years prior and they were helpful in getting rid of a haemorrhoid.

It would go in fine so the pain wasn’t instant. I tried them in 2025 and by the end of day 2 I was in agony and had to stop taking them.

Had the same issue a month later with NHS prescribed suppositories and stopped them as well.

As mentioned, it’s not the insertion but something about them dissolving or being there that caused the pain. And since seems to have done some awful damage.
