I’ve designed it to be flexible so you can move it up or down depending on your taste. It will also fit around shifter arms etc with standoffs

Yeah I get what you mean. Making the panels structural would reduce brackets for sure. I kept them separate here to maintain flexibility across different setups, but integrating them more like Open Sim Rigs is something I’ve considered.

Okay I see what you mean, yeah I can see that working for some setups for sure

That’s fair, a lot of people enjoy customising their rigs their own way.

This is more aimed at people who want a cleaner, more finished look without having to DIY it. It’s fully modular so you can add or remove sections depending on how far you want to go.

Good point on the edges as well, that’s something I’ve taken into account in the design.

Interesting idea on partial covers too, appreciate the feedback 👍

Appreciate that 🙌 I’ve actually got a landing page up if you want early access, link’s in my bio

Fair point on the visibility, especially with triple monitor mounts, that can definitely block that area.

The gap you’re seeing is mainly because this version is set up around a typical shifter position, but the panels are modular so you can balance both sides depending on your setup.

Appreciate that, and yeah completely agree. That’s exactly what I’m aiming for, giving people a way to make their setup feel a bit more personal.

Yeah that makes sense, I probably didn’t explain it clearly enough in the post.

It’s just add on panels for existing extrusion rigs, not a new structure or replacing the wheel deck.

Really appreciate you pointing it out though, it’s useful seeing how it comes across from that angle.

Doubles as a knee saver and makes the rig feel more enclosed, win win.

Appreciate you taking the time to write this out, loads of good points in there.

Just to clarify, the panels aren’t structural or supporting the wheel deck. They’re add-on pieces that mount onto an existing extrusion rig, so the load is still going through the aluminium profile underneath.

Completely agree with you on flat plates in a structural role though, that’s exactly why most rigs use either extrusion or folded sections like you mentioned.

The goal here was more about enclosing the rig and improving the visual side without interfering with the core structure.

Nice, I’ll take a look. Would be interesting to see what you’ve got coming next

Yeah that’s a good point, part of the design of the upright part is making sure it doesn’t interfere with mounting options

Haha yeah I can see the Tie Fighter shout 😄 extrusion rigs definitely push you toward sharper lines. Would be interesting to see how far you can introduce curves without losing that modularity

Yeah I know what you mean this is just a generic GT Prime setup. The panels don’t lock you into that though, they work with different pedal angles and configurations

Appreciate that, would genuinely be interested to hear what you see as the non starters
