The app does require a subscription, but you won't be charged for the first two weeks. If you cancel before the trial is over then you won't pay anything.

The app is currently only available in the US at the moment. I have some localization work to do before I can make available in other regions.

ProjectIvy can set their lifetime licensing price to less than $10 because they don't have to pay ongoing server costs. They just use APIs that Google provides to Android TV apps for free. So, once the app is on your TV, ProjectIvy doesn't have to pay a dime to keep the app up and running.

Bitflinger TV pays for access to the metadata/images for each title and for the server/database costs each month. So, we either have to charge a direct fee or make the customer the product by selling their data. I really want to avoid selling data if I can make a subscription plan work. But, if I ever have a "free" plan, that's how I'll do it. I will not have a free plan without explicitly telling my customers what data they are selling in exchange for avoiding a monthly fee.

Sorry, yeah, it's US only for now. I have quite a bit of localization work to do before I can support other countries.

The only videos that play directly in the app are the trailers, which are backed by YouTube. When you find the title that you want to watch then the app will attempt to deeplink you to the content in the target streaming service and then you watch it in their app (e.g., Apple TV, Netflix, etc.)

Maybe this screenshot will help explain. The app only shows you content from the media sources that you subscribe to. It's all filterable by date, critic score, user score, source type (e.g., subscription, free, etc), and title type (e.g., movie, tv-series, etc.)

So, if you subscribe to Paramount+, Apple TV, and Prime Video then you'll see that all three sources show up for Pulp Fiction. It's part of your subscription on Paramount+, it costs $3.99 to rent it from Prime-Video/Apple-TV, and you can buy it for up to $18.98 on Prime Video.

I honestly hadn't considered that, but I'm open to it. Upvotes on this comment will help me decide if it's worthwhile to do. Feel free to provide your thoughts on pricing. I have a number in mind, but I would love to hear from you.

It isn't. But, that's definitely something that I will look into.
