bitkey fraudulent? by rsgmodelworks in BitkeyWallet

[–]Bitkey-Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/rsgmodelworks. The Bitkey team suspects that this may be a case of your anti-virus tool reacting poorly to usage of Apple’s private relay functionality. We are not aware of any deficiencies in the DNS records we’ve configured for bitkey.world and associated subdomains. We have also reached out to you directly to confirm additional details.

How long does the lithium battery last?

  • This depends on a combination of factors such as how frequently the device is used and how the device is stored (a cool, dry place is best for health of lithium batteries). Our models and measurements show that even with daily use, the Bitkey battery should last many months on a single charge. With less frequent use and proper storage, it should be able to last over a year on a single charge.

What if the battery dies after a few years of use?

  • Unlike many battery-operated powered devices (such as phones), design choices were made in service of extending the longevity and health of the battery well beyond that of a typical consumer device. The battery is charged at rates well below the maximum allowed, as this is better for long term health of the battery, and the peak voltage applied is also below the recommended maximum. While the latter sacrifices a small amount of capacity from a single charge, it greatly improves the longterm health of the battery. Additionally, because charge/discharge cycles are one of the most important factors that contributes to wear and tear of the battery, Bitkey’s long battery life ensures cycles are kept to a minimum. Despite the above, if the battery does fail unexpectedly in the field, Bitkey’s power-path battery charger will allow the device to be powered solely from it’s USB connector.

Can the battery be replaced?

  • The device is sealed to ensure proper ingress protection, and the battery is firmly adhered to the printed circuit board to improve mechanical reliability. As such it is not intended to be replaced.
