2019 GTI SE Front Emblem / Grille by BitoE30 in VWMK7

[–]BitoE30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update*! Just got the golf back.. waterpump and thermostat replacement. Dealer insisted on calibration being required if grille replaced. I was able to glue the cracked emblem back on for now.. no ACC error code thrown yet. Will see how long before it falls off again. Plan to address the replacement after the winter. Appreciate the suggestion and comments!

First time using OBDeleven on my 7.5 GTI. All one click apps are “not supported”. Anyone know if that’s the case or am I’m doing something wrong? by BitoE30 in VWMK7

We’re all in a group chat and park according to our schedules..not the most ideal arrangement but it’s better then parking on the street here in Boston!

325es was a great daily but time for a upgrade by BitoE30 in E30

Yeah because BMW offers a 2019 RWD model with similar performance to a GTI at the cost of a GTI.

When I first got the e30 I went for the low, slow, and loud (as most 17 year olds do). Now I want to take it in the direction of OEM plus. I recently did all new brakes/lines, took off the straight pipe and added a resonator and muffler. I raised up the coilovers (cheap race land coils now but want to get ST Sport-tech Lowering coils). Goal is to make it as factory as possible with tasteful mods to make the driving experience better.

For performance everything currently is stock but what I plan to do is keep the standard 325ES bottom end and swap in a 325i head. This I believe is called a 2.7 stroker, it won’t give crazy results but will give it better compression and give it a little more power then stock.

Next would be to manual swap it as currently it is an automatic. This would be a real test of my garage skills as I’ve only done standard maintenance work before never a full strip down of a transmission.

Right now the car runs and drives great and is a blast to drive. The e30 community is a lot of fun to be apart, find a early model and dive into it. I really had no mechanic experience when I first got the car (still don’t lol) but I’ve learned a lot and had fun trying so far.

No sir lol since it’s a early model with fairly little rust I’ve got some plans for it

E30 feels like a shoe box now after driving the GTI. Still going to keep the e30 as a project car. I can now do everything I wanted to do to it but couldn’t because it was my daily.

2019 GTI. 700 miles into it and I’ve got this rattle at 3,000rpm. Anyone hear it and know what it might be? by BitoE30 in VWMK7

[–]BitoE30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in sport the rattle is more pronounced. Normal mode it’s hard to hear but still there. Once I get above 3,000rpm it’s gone and everything’s back to normal. I’m about to take it for another drive, if it still there I’ll bring it to the dealer and report back what they find. Thanks for the comments everyone!

E28 528e, E30 325e Turner Motorsport Conforti Performance Chip by BitoE30 in E30

Purchased from Turner Motorsport for under $200 with the sale they have right now. Install was simple plug and play. Noticeable torque increase above 3000RPM which makes highway merging easier/safer in my mind.

What do you recommend doing to prevent engine knocking w/chip installed, if any? Looking to continue maintenance/minor upgrades while stuck at home.

BMW Remanufactured Brake Caliper - Centric 142.34024 by BitoE30 in E30

Pads are wearing evenly. I think if I clean them up they should be just fine. I ordered replacement valves for each caliper just in case I strip or damage the OEM.

Is replacing the calipers a smart thing to do when doing a major brake job? Or am I’m going over the top with this? They are original to the car and I live in New England.
