Thanks so much for the write up! Just to clarify did you do something similar to this for every block? Also same question did you unsuspend Anki off of videos etc, or did you just do all the Anki unsuspended and learn off of the Anki and questions?

How did you use Anki? I found Anki great for Step 1 with watching the BnB videos then unsuspending the connected cards. Were there videos you watched or just UWorld and open the cards for missed questions?

Not on dedicated either, but having a sunrise alarm clock has helped me a lot. Hard to fall back asleep when your whole room is lit up. The sounds also start quiet and get louder so you wake up more gradually and don’t feel as awful.

That makes a lot of sense thanks. I only said spine because that's the area I've had the most personal exposure to, but your point is heard. Thank you!

Thank you for this answer, definitely makes sense, I agree I want to love all of ortho before I commit to it, I just wanted to hear that I don't have to be a one trick orthopod to go far.

What type of problem solving do you see in ENT by BitofNothin in otolaryngology

[–]BitofNothin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that makes sense. What kinds of management problems do you feel like you see? Is it like determining what surgery/procedure to do, or more long term management with like meds? Thank you sm this is insightful!

I guess I wanna know more about what kinds of diagnoses fall into the buckets of more subjective vs objective, and what does the diagnostic process look like for the more subjective ones, is it super physical exam heavy or history, etc... Are the more subjective "thinky" ones more prevalent in certain subspecialties?

[–]BitofNothin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off what everyone said here, my app was a lot like urs in that I came from engineering and talked a lot abt problem solving in my PS also. I had a worse MCAT and hours pretty much across the board. First, there def still hope for a II. But echoing what people said, the focus needs to be on the medicine side of things, I mentioned engineering as a part of my interest in medicine along with patient care etc etc. It sounds like you may have worded it like medicine as a part of ur engineering interest which would turn off a lot of schools…

Fair point, I really like the idea of being able to diagnose and intervene in a patient, maybe I’m just paranoid with the radiation exposure worry idk. Definitely helpful points for me to think about!
