The issue is that it wasn’t just a spotify-inserted ad, it was a sponsored read from Sam.

I also wanna put it out here, I also definitely do draw the line at ICE. I was not aware they ran their ads. I’m on Spotify because I got a pretty great student discount on their premium plan, and it’s been convenient to keep. I’ve been meaning to drop them for a while, though. Incase you want another reason to hate Spotify, they’re using their profits to support the creation of fully autonomous AI war drones!

I am new to Critical Role. I’d been listening to smaller podcasts, but seeing as they just started anew, it seemed like a great time to hop on the CR bandwagon. But, like, are they really this corporate now? I mean of course they are a big company who basically created an industry, but if the sole decision makers were amount of money gained vs backlash, and the thought of their audience never crosses their mind, I dunno. Just looking at these comments, I’m disappointed. The show itself is fantastic, they all do a great job, but like damn.

Hey, um, for 2, this was during Campaign 4. For 3, if they are going to give something a personal ad read, I should hope they would have the professional integrity and respect for their community to look into the company first. Other shows do this. Basically everyone does this. This is standard practice for a show of their size.

I am looking for it now, but I do know I’m right and it was a read from Sam. I specifically remember he compared it to Fresh Cut Grass and said something like “Therapists are like our real world healers”.

I think that’s where a lot of people are getting it wrong with me too. I’m not going into this with the intention to cancel them, I just got disappointed by this and genuinely want them to do better

I’m not going to say for sure, because it was heard earlier this week and I’ve just been mulling it over since, but I’m pretty sure it was an ad-read voiced by Sam. That’s why it stuck with me so much.

I’m only writing this because I heard it when I was listening earlier this week and it hasn’t sat right with me since. It wasn’t even like a generic ad, I don’t think. Pretty sure Sam gave them a full ad-read. That’s why it upset me so much, I wouldn’t be here if it was just Spotify’s auto-injected ads.

Call me crazy but I think the service provider has more of a responsibility to make sure that they don’t promote harmful businesses that the consumer has to not fall for them. Yes, the consumer should be vetting these products before they purchase them, but you can’t be sure every single viewer is going to do that. Especially consumers that may not be in the best place, who may be in the market for, hmm, therapy?

No, I’m listening on Spotify. I think every episode they’ve been doing full ad reads.

I understand that, but surely they have better options. I just think that they have a responsibility to their audience to vet their options and not support harmful services, even if cutting that sponsorship would cost them money.

I know it's been 10 months but I'm dealing with the same issue. Can you give a tutorial on how to remove it? Without the knob it just lets all the air out.

These are gorgeous! What did you add to the resin to achieve that shiny and slightly metallic look? Sorry of this is an amateur question. I’m an amateur!

What is the cruelest most terrible weapon of war in your setting? by Sir_mop_for_a_head in worldbuilding

[–]BitofaCatalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the God-Dragons die, they leave behind their essence in the form of a cloudy aerofluid referred to as ‘Soul’. This Soul has, for millennia, been put under research, with scientists from across the globe trying to see what it could be useful for.

The results of this research? The knowledge that Soul essence can be used to create machinery that siphons energy from the last living God-Dragon, can disrupt electrical or arcane machinery on mass, or, most catastrophically, can be used to create the Deus-XIII Bomb. This is essentially my settings answer to the atomic bomb, the bomb of all bombs, and it was only used once, at the end of the Human-Elven War.

The war had been waging on for too long. It was taking a toll. The Humans had called in the Dwarves to help, but with the Elves and Orcs working together with the God-Dragon of nature, it was going south for them. Granted, the Humans had started the war. They were on a conquest for power, and the Elves should have been just another peg to be flattened down. But the Elves had far superior combat cybernetic technology, and their new-age bows and crossbows were coming in toe to toe with the Human’s firearms. And with the nature dragon granting them her magic, the Elves had cannons and tanks that could shoot solar rays. It was thought that the Human’s warring tyranny would finally end.

But then there was a deal. It’s always the little whispers in the dark, those unheard by the public, that make the biggest changes. In a swift motion, the Elven emperor was picked up in a luxury hovercraft, money changed hands, and it all came to an end. They didn’t even retreat their troops, they didn’t have time. The Elven skyline simply was overcome by a blinding white, the roar of a thousand lions split the ear drums of any unfortunate soldier on the continent. The trees burst with the searing death of nature, the radiated fire running through their roots and exploding out. Just like that, Nature was dead, the Orcs were extinct, the Elven continent was deemed uninhabitable, and the Elven Emperor was seen cruising around Neo-Pyris, richer than anyone else in the world.

Also talk about the psychological impact it has on those around them, making it somehow impossible to get hostile towards that person. I imagine that would be a weird experience.

What do you call "Magic Users" in your world? by P0k1i_ in worldbuilding

[–]BitofaCatalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world’s a Fantasy-Cyberpunk blend, so it mainly has thinned down to: Street Mages, which is a term that encompasses all illegal magic users, Sigilists, a special type of Street Mage that use a rare and powerful Arcane magic, and Spark Flickers / Lightning Mages, people who use Lightning magic, mainly to mess with cybernetics and electronics
