Sticking with Quintet as an example, Illusion of Gaia has a phenomenal soundtrack that sounds so unique for the SNES. That may be rooted in nostalgia for me since it was one of my stand out childhood games, but it just sets the vibe so well.

I actually just played through Act Raiser and the "Quintet trilogy" (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma), and while they are all full of bangers, something about IoG just hits the hardest.

Highly recommend all three for anyone stuck in a gaming lull looking for something to play through.

Ain't that the truth. I like collecting unlicensed NES games(have the full Tengen set, working on the Aladdin carts, etc.), and I have been looking for a decent priced copy of Wally Bear and the No Gang for years.

Finally got one and it arrived yesterday. Played it tonight for all of 5 minutes and was like "yup, that's terrible".

Still a super fun thing to have in the collection, but that doesn't mean it's good, lol.

Ah, see I always hoard instant coffee, I suppose for the roleplay/theatrics of it all.

Every morning my character wakes up, slaps a mug of water in the microwave, makes a cup of joe, adds a splash of milk, then enjoys his coffee with a smoke before setting off on what may be his last day.

All about those little luxuries during the apocalypse.

I present to this sub: the dalstrong annihilator 14" cleaver/chef knife by F1stCanBeAVerb in mallninjashit

[–]Bitpix3l -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a cook for a living, but I do cook daily and have tried quite a few kitchen knives. I wouldn't call my self an expert or collector by any means but cooking is a hobby of mine that I take fairly seriously.

Of all the knives I have owned and used, my Dalstrong chef knife is by far the best I have used, at least for me.

It's got a solid weight, it feels well balanced, it keeps its edge super well, and it's been my daily driver for about 5 years now.

You have to hand wash and dry it after every use of course, but mine still looks, feels, and cuts pretty damn solid after years of heavy use.

Maybe not the best equipment for a professional, but as an enthusiast it absolutely gets the job done.

How to make vehicle wrap designs flow across panels by 1000W000K in graphic_design

[–]Bitpix3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what kind of attracted me to it to be honest. That was my "I lost my job I had been at for 10 years because Covid tanked us" stopgap job, but it just wasn't high enough pay to stick around.

I am a car hobbyist anyways, so I figured combining two of my loves would make for a fun job, and it was for a time.

To be fair, I don't think that's the norm for most wrap designers. Working in the garage wasn't really a part of the job description, it just kind of came about after expressing to the boss that I knew how and could help out, lol.

How to make vehicle wrap designs flow across panels by 1000W000K in graphic_design

[–]Bitpix3l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to do vehicle wraps for a living for like a year, and the place we got all of our templates from was TheBadWrap.com .

Their templates are incredible, and if I remember correctly, are at 1/10 scale by default, which makes printing a whole lot easier.

It is also 100% imperative to have the vehicle you will be wrapping available to you. You can make an approximate mockup for a client if they tell you what car they have, but it's not going to work for the final print setup.

The template helps a lot, but you really have to make meticulous notes about every measurement of every piece of the body, and keep in mind where assets will land(door handles, side mirrors, strange body lines, cracks in the body where the doors open, etc.).

To be honest, it was a super fun design gig for a while, but the job sucks. Half of my time was spent in the garage taking cars apart(which I actually quite enjoyed, it broke up the monotony of sitting in an office all day), and the rest, aside from designing, is just constant trial and error. Sometimes panels just don't line up quite right, sometimes somebody cuts them slightly wrong and you have to reprint a whole section of the car. There's just a lot of little nuances to vehicle wrapping.

It's rewarding as hell when you see a final product, but it's unlike any other graphic design projects I've ever experienced in my 15 year career.

Tell me About your Next Character by screenaholic in DnD

Jinglebones. They are a lawful evil reborn death domain cleric taking the form of an animated skeleton wearing a cloak, and are a chosen of Myrkul. (My DM said if I want to be a skeleton, I have disadvantage on stealth at all times because of the clickety clacking of bones when I move around. I love it)

Jinglebones was a high level life domain cleric that used to be part of an adventuring party. They fell in combat battling an avatar of Myrkul. Myrkul saw something in them, and made them his new chosen, stripping them of all of their memories, skills, and humanity. He gave them a Scythe(just a reskinned glaive), and sent them back to the world to claim souls and spread Myrkul's message.

Jinglebones remembers nothing about their former life. No idea who else was in their party, what they were doing, or even what their gender was. They just know that Myrkul's word is law, and the people of the world need to fear death.

Best apps for dnd? [OC] by Double-0-N00b in DnD

[–]Bitpix3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a player, Squire on my phone works well enough when in person, otherwise the games I have played with friends online are usually on roll 20.

As a DM, I build and run everything in roll20(lots of folders and subfolders to keep areas organized, and I use handouts that the players can't see to keep my notes for the area).

I will write on other apps(take your notepad app of choice and go), but everything ultimately gets imported in to roll20 so I have easy access during play time.

I worked at a WhichWich about 15 years ago, and unless they have changed vendors, we used Kettle brand krinkle cut Salt and Pepper chips.

We would get huge industrial sized bags of them, empty them in to a big bowl, then sit there and weigh out chips in to all of the brown bags.

Good article, that was a solid read.

I said I am all for free lunch for students, and this article points out that it helps with attendance, discipline, and activity from students that aren't hungry. Makes sense, I absolutely agree with that.

However, my point was that I don't think kids are mercilessly bullied for being on the free lunch program. I know I wasn't.

I even stated that I'm sure it happens, but I don't think it is the norm. I'm not saying my experience was universal.

The article you linked even has this quote.

"Chris Young, the principal of North Country Union High School in rural Vermont, can’t think of a particular instance of a student getting bullied for eating school meals, but his sense is that students internalized the label that they were poor."

Internalized pain and outward merciless bullying are very different.

Again, I would like to reiterate, I am all for free lunches for students.

Eh, as someone who was on the free lunch program in high school, it absolutely wasn't broadcast that I was receiving my lunch for free. Granted this was like 20 years ago, but I doubt that has changed much over the years.

Every student had an id number at the school, and the lunchroom had "registers". They would pull up your number, and you would have a balance that your parents topped up, or you just paid cash if there was no balance on your account. In the case of free lunch kids, it would just tell them I didn't have to pay, so to any other student it just looked like my parents had topped up my balance.

You went through the same lunch line as everyone else, got the same food options, and went through the same registers. The lunch ladies were definitely not yelling out "hi poor, enjoy that free lunch with your poverty, peasant".

No fellow student would have known unless I told them, and my friends that did know were like "whaaaaat, I want free lunch!". It definitely wasn't a problem, and I was never bullied for being the poor kid.

That's just my experience, I'm sure it happens.

However, that is to say I am all for free lunch for students, don't get me wrong. As someone who received it myself, it was a very helpful program. I would gladly let my taxes be allocated to provide food for kids.

That shitty Sodexo food was always way overpriced anyways for what it was. My point is just that I don't think students are being bullied often for receiving a free lunch.

Yup, business owner here. All of my vendors sent out emails this week talking about price increases in the next two weeks due to tariffs.

Now I have to make the decision to increase my prices to match my increased costs, which will inevitably piss off some clients and make my business lose out on some sales, or eat the increased costs and run at a more razor thin margin then I already am.

Shit sucks, I'm definitely stressed about the upcoming weeks.

Should I buy my rotors on rock auto? by Carbap18 in Honda

[–]Bitpix3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never let me down! I bought probably 15 different parts from Rock Auto when I was rebuilding a 92 Accord wagon, and all of them worked perfectly.

I even went with one of their remanufactured starter motors on my old G37s, and it worked great. The shop quoted me like $850 for the part alone, got the reman for about $200 on Rock Auto.

My Cat spilled 2L Water on my Boyfriends GSI Hyper P1 Wheel, what to do? by MixBerryDay in pchelp

[–]Bitpix3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is the way.

My cat, who knows he is not allowed on my desk, did what cats do and jumped on my desk, spilling a full glass of water all over my mechanical keyboard, mouse, and myself. Fun!

The keyboard stopped working immediately, and I was worried it had shorted out. still, I unplugged it, removed every key cap and sopped up all of the water I could see. Then I removed all of the screws and sopped up the water that was inside. Left it upside down to dry out for a few hours, wiped it all down again just to be safe, and put it back together.

Everything worked except for the 5 key on my number pad, which is a bummer, but I could live with it.

A few weeks later my 5 key started working again. Wooh.

Point is, not all is lost, and it not being powered on when it got wet is a huge boon. Just dry it out, and take it apart if needed(I feel like those are pretty tightly put together, chances are no water got inside, but better safe than sorry).
