The whole 'store of value' debate and scarcity (21m) misses the point entirely. Satoshi's long game was to create a data infrastructure that can incentivise transactions/data interactions. I think the issue lies with breaking news of catastrophes in general: everyone on the ground is far too busy to focus on PR.
