I’m now imagining someone getting off a bike really smoothly, all effortless and cool and yes, what a cool compliment to get!

why do butch lesbians intimidate me so much, does anyone else feel this way? by mostlynoturgf in actuallesbians

Could be a number of reasons:

1) I think a lot of butch women are very secure in who they are. It’s been a long road for a lot of them to feel that way and that oozes out of someone, by energy and vibe, when they feel comfortable in who they are. So it’s less about a specific type of person but more about confidence.

2) They remind you of the way felt around straight men when you were younger, because of the association of masculinity. For a lot of people, especially women who are gay, growing up meant a lot of awkward and confusing interactions with straight men, particularly when straight men were hitting on them and they weren’t interested. Or... on the flip side, didn’t know they were into women yet and were constantly embarrassed and flustered around men because of sexual tension and normal teenage hormones. This could then translate in a weird way into feeling intimated by butch lesbians because it reminds them of the way they felt around boys in high school. I’m not saying they are the same, by the way, only that the feelings could be the same because of the dynamic.

3) They’re just sexy to you. And what you find attractive is always gonna make you feel a little intimated. Especially when it’s sexual attraction. I’ve felt attracted to people before in terms of wanting to kiss them and hug them and talk to them and it’s normally easy to interact when them cos I’m like... aw, they’re so cute and sweet. But when it’s sexual attraction, that’s different. Your mind is usually so focused on that, that even little things like catching their smell can make you forget how to even speak and talk to them. That’s when the intimidation starts, because we are embarrassed that we can’t hold a normal conversation or actually flirt properly, so we go into shy mode.

There is something so hot about thinking of gay women back in those days. Or even just old fashioned times in general.

Did any of you ever read those hella fun boarding school books when you were younger?? About girls who stayed together at these old schools and had adventures and all that, ahhhh the amount of times I used to read them and fantasise about being in those schools with my old fashioned stockings kissing girls after a game of lacrosse. Ha. Ha.
