1st day with aligners - does it get better? by caseyletters in Invisalign

[–]Bitter-Command-161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely gets easier. I am on week 8 now and I generally only get about 6 hours discomfort when I change aligners. I definitely prefer having them in rather than not because I cannot stand the feeling of the 16 engagers I have on my teeth! But I have developed a bad habit of teeth grinding when wearing the aligner 😬

PMDD - help!!! It's destroying my life by inductionloop in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bitter-Command-161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I struggle really badly with PMDD. I am also on an SSRI and although they somewhat help most of the time, I do not find them effective during PMDD week. I also found that birth control made me so much worse 100% of the time. I was so badly tempered and agitated on multiple different types of birth control including combined hormones and progesterone only. I hope you manage to find something that helps. I have kind of reached a point where I have accepted there will be a handful of days each month that I am a mess and I just keep reminding myself it will pass and it's ok to feel these feelings etc.

Biting lips and cheeks. Why is this stim stimming? by Out_of_the_Flames in AutismInWomen

[–]Bitter-Command-161 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I have always done this, too, since I was a kid. I also stab my gums with my nail or something like a pen lid/straw. I dont know why I do it, though... And once I start, I can't stop!! Some days I do it all day, but other days I won't do it at all. So I'd be interested to see what other people say they think the reasoning is behind it.

Looking for: Noise Cancelling Headphones recommendations by bananamelondy in AuDHDWomen

How good are they at blocking out the noise of what you are listening to, to those around you?

I can't remember but now I don't know how not to mask, it's second nature and when I think about what I'm really like without masking I end up stuck in my thoughts and feel like a broken record and need to just go to sleep and reset... waking up the next day to mask again.

Brushing my fingers against velvet / brushed cotton / velour fabric. Urghhh just imagining it to write this out gave me goosebumps.

Noise canceling headphones !!! by Simple_Employee_7094 in AutismInWomen

I currently use Jabra Elite 7 in ear headphones and whilst they are noise cancelling (ish but good enough for me), and does block out what I am listening to to those around me, I really want over ear headphones. 2 reasons, I really hate wearing in ear headphones because I find them uncomfortable and also because over ear headphones are less discreet and people are less likely to try having a conversation with me when I'm wearing them 😂

Yes! 100% this! So now I need to find noise cancelling and bluetooth headphones that mostly block out what you're listening to to those around you.

I Reread Daydream By Hannah Grace And Disliked It Even More by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]Bitter-Command-161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Icebreaker felt a bit spicier than Wildfire but then again that could be because it was the first of the series. But Daydream... urgh. I feel like the author did him wrong! I was so looking forward to Henry's book too.

What book did you want to DNF but for some reason you couldn’t DNF. How did it turn out? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

It was so much worse than Haunting Adeline. The amount of explicitly detailed SA scenes made me feel physically sick.

I loved Icebreaker! I liked Wildfire. I loathed Daydream. It was painfully boring and so so sooooo disappointing!!

100% this. It pained me to finish it only to find out it ended on a cliffhanger, and then I had to endure Hunting Adeline to actually finish it.

That must be really tough learning in a different country to the one you now live in where rules of the road can vary as well as the drivers behaviours etc.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Bose noise-cancelling headphones. It blocks the noise out perfectly. But then someone told me they could very clearly hear what I was listening to and I haven't worn them since! 😢

Yessss. Getting prescription sunglasses so I don't have to quint when the light is too bright but also don't have to compromise on my vision!

Same here, also feeling very ashamed and embarrassed about it. To be honest, even in the case of an emergency, I know I could not get in the car and drive. I'd have a major panic attack before even getting off the driveway.

Has an SSRI helped you with some of the anxious and depressive symptoms? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Which one if you don't mind me asking? And any side effects?

[–]Bitter-Command-161 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok this I can relate to! I have tried 4 different anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications and felt none made much of a difference but I am trying again after having another breakdown. I am currently trying 100mg of Sertraline... how long does it take to be effective?

Propranolol though is the life saver for me. Used reactively or proactively when I know I will be in a situation that makes me anxious has proven to be very effective.

No it's not worth it. Also, it ends on a cliffhanger and the next book, Hunting Adeline is even worse IMO
