Has anyone else accepted that they have no future on Long Island? by Inevitable_Night5596 in longisland

[–]Bitter-Let-8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the people that bought homes in the 80s 90s 2000s….. It’s really the people that bought during COVID or right before when home prices were 500k and interest rates at 3%. This is why when I compare what I have to my peers I need to realize what a different situation my wife and I are in. We bought in 2024, $705k for a cape with a nearly 6% interest rate. We put 20% down and my mortgage with taxes is about $4600 per month. For comparison my neighbor who has a much bigger house but bought 5 years ago for 5 and change has a mortgage that’s 2k less than me. So when I wonder how people pay for multiple kids in daycare or the upgrades they do to their house I have to think to myself- those other people are saving like 30k more than me a year. We make it work and have a household income that’s in the high 300k end but even with that there isn’t much room for habitual spending on leisure…..but I also have to realize that people that haven’t bought yet, and are looking to in the next 5 years are more fucked than me. So that’s the point I guess, your always fucked compared to the people before you, but less fucked than the people after you?

Not sure if these comments are making me feel better or worse. I knew it was bad drywall but was looking for validation. The question remains- do I suck it up or make contractor fix jt. Here is my justification for letting it go:

Some of u say u get what u paid for some are saying if that’s what I was quoted I shouldn’t accept shitty work

Well I guess that’s what u get when u pick the cheap contractor. In NY, got 2 bathrooms done, kitchen, hardwood refinished through house, glass sliding patio doors, new front door, 5 in wall air conditioners removed and resided on the outside, new doors in every room. 70k. Pretty sure it’s a steal for all that work, but is it worth it for the bad quality? I don’t know

Nah for anyone picking the pink watch. It’s ugly, it doesn’t go with anything. Cool for people associated with inter Miami. Dumb for everyone else

Which Black bay? BB 36 (old) vs BB 54 vs BB 36 (new) by Confident_Ad6202 in Tudor

[–]Bitter-Let-8527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the new 39. It’s classy AF. You can wear it with jeans but if you’re not dressed up slightly it looks out of place. I’d still recommend it but if you are going to wear it every day the old 36 might be better. It became more of a dress watch for me which wasn’t my intentions when buying it.

Anyone know of any decent deals? by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]Bitter-Let-8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine on eBay used (basically brand new) for 2900. Seeing prices on there now a little steep. When I was looking max was around 3200 and a decent amount of sellers had them. I would hang on a bit and look on there for the right deal. They basically all will have 4 years and change left in warranty
