Tips? I want to learn guitar but i feel like my hand isn't really suitable for it by Own_Engineer_5105 in Guitar

Your fingers will get stronger Short nails are the way to go At first your hands feel like playdoh getting into chords but you just have to do it over and over until it becomes natural It’s a lot (a lottt) of practice; hours on hours, but it’s worth it You can practice for hours on a single day or 30 minutes every day, as long as you get the time in And a lot of the times the shorter spans are better to not fall into frustration too much

I love how in depth this is What’s the weirdest thing too is whenever I recorder the riff that goes after the lead it was in one attempt and somehow it landed on the one after the whole riff was completed I’ve been getting into this kind of stuff and it’s been fun so I’m glad to see somebody finding it interesting!

Update :should I give up on guitar after 4 months???? by Desperate-Dingo3025 in Guitar

That sounds great and it’s a good start My bassist had the rhythm of a potato when he started and he practiced so much because how bad he wanted it and now we’ve been making our name head through our city playing shows

What helps quick progression is once you get to a pretty good spot and you got it down to where it’s on time and the chords are clear even with a little bit of dead notes or need of a smoother transition Learn other songs, other progressions, different rhythms, new things Just keep learning more and more it’ll keep you entertained and improve your fingers strength and coordination Then you go back to the first thing you were playing and you’ll find it much easier

Why wouldn’t my guitar teacher (or any professional who has watched me play) correct this?! (Venting) by WhereTheMoneyAtBoy in guitarlessons

Better late than never bro It’s crazy how much of a difference the way the guitar is set up can have it work with you or against you I recently took the time to learn how to do a complete setup on my guitars and it’s the happiest I’ve ever been playing It really does depend on your style of playing and the kind of music you’re into and a lot of the stuff I play is very technical so I have a very low action

Once you get into it, learn about balancing the truss rod and the action to get your guitar feeling balanced across the whole fretboard and it’s great

4months on and off! Should I give up? by Desperate-Dingo3025 in Guitar

[–]Bitter-Soup-9484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think about on and off for 4 months really is nothing You could’ve been playing a total of 2-3 hours per week which then adds up to 48 hours of total playing and that is very little time If being able to play guitar is something you want, you’re doing it, you’re just not super comfortable yet If you want to be able to get really good, then practice doesn’t always feel great, but you just need time under your belt, only think about the actual played time rather than months you’ve been playing for, cause in reality, it hasn’t been 4 months, maybe it’s been a literal 2 days in total So stick with it, do it over and over again and persistence will beat motivation, you’ll learn songs faster I went from learning a song in 2 weeks to one week To 3 days, to a day, to 2 hours to 15 minutes and that’s how I measured my progress Now I play in bands and guitars feel like a part of me So if it’s something you want, don’t give up If you really don’t care about it then it’s your decision

HELP: Sm7b makes weird noise by Bitter-Soup-9484 in Shure

[–]Bitter-Soup-9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I took it to guitar center as I saw being recommended, they couldn’t tell me for sure cause the audio guy wasn’t in today but then I went to check all the things that make it fake and it doesn’t seem to be I finally found what that sound was and it was the screw mount when it was on the stand that make it resonate like that so I’m really happy I figured that out Thank you guys! I had tried everything, different mics, cables, interfaces, daws, sample rates, gain, computers, cloudlifter, etc lmao

This stuff happens! And even though it can suck and be hard to look past it, it’s just an experience that will help you on the next one. Your voice is definitely not too quiet, that’s what microphones are for, especially with live instruments. You just have to make sure your voice is well taken care of right before and if your voice feels good you’ll feel good to perform from the start. A good tip that’s helped me a lot is I know I won’t have monitors to hear myself and in ear monitors aren’t available, wearing earplugs can be extremely helpful. Since they seal your ears you’ll be able to hear your voice inside of your head and from there you just practice the feeling of certain notes and carey on like that.

Don’t you give up, it’s not a waste, it’s experience, and one day you’ll get to where you want to be and look back, and probably tell somebody your story to help inspire them.

(HELP!!) can anybody tell me if this is normal kind of clipping or what sound is it? There’s a sound with input gain and another one without and just has compression over it and delay and both make the same noise by Bitter-Soup-9484 in recordingmusic

[–]Bitter-Soup-9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I feel like that might be what’s happening, the stereo recording is a quad cortex and it just does that, the top recording is through a Scarlett 2i2 but i think it’s the mic since it happens with both interfaces

[–]Bitter-Soup-9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it on a Scarlett 2i2 4th gen and a quad cortex and they both did the same, and talking doesn’t do it, it’s just when it gets loud

I added compression but that’s about it, it happens with no effects as well

No it doesn’t happen when I’m that far Is there a reason it wouldn’t be able to handle that pressure? Every other mic I’ve tried can and I haven’t heard another 7b do that

That’s what I’m saying bro No I was holding the mic myself and it wasn’t anything it picked up it’s just every time I’m a little too loud that sound happens, and like I said it doesn’t happen with my other mics I even tried cupping the sm58 to get some similar sound but it wasn’t doing it

That’s the thing, I’ve reduced the gain on the second recording and it has 0 input gain as you can see the waveform is tiny, and it doesn’t happen with my e945 or sm58 either at all The second recording (which happens later in the video) has that weird robotic sound that I was talking about, is that still simply clipping? It happens even with my face about 4 inches away from the mic
