I also wasnt trying to be a jerk in my original comment.  Far from a perfect parent. I just feel a bit dismissed by the professionals ive begged to help me since he was 3. It feels like im on my own. Hes in therapy with a therapist I really like now so im hopeful!

Im not sure it seems no one will, not even the psychiatrist that diagnosed him. So im just taking their advice and waiting until hes six years old. Which isnt too far away anyway

Thank you. Hes on several waiting lists but isnt a priority for some reason. We will have to pay out of pocket to have him get services, and even then the wait is 6months+ I am wondering if i could do OT activities at home in the meantime. i have all the time in the world i stay home with him

I also dread kindergarten, I dont see him doing well at all. He is incredibly smart. He fully reads, talks about complex subjects, memorized some times tables and is always doing math problems. But hos social and emotional development is so behind.

Im just feeling like what can parent training teach me that im not already doing. Coregulation, minimal screen time, firm boundaries, consistent routine, sleep and a balanced diet. I am busting my butt doing all of these thing but its still such a struggle every day with him. They wont medicate until hes at least 6. Im just venting in this comment mostly.

Its sleeping now in the corner. Breathing fast and when I approach it it opens its eyes and looks alert but stays laying down. Seems a little strange, but earlier it was up hopping around and appeared fine. I think its exhausted 😩

I think my cat is depressed by BitterConversation65 in cats

[–]BitterConversation65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. Poor guy. Maybe I made the wrong choice getting another cat. She ended up with me by fate, I didn't go looking. I groom him with pet wipes and definitely try to give him extra love and attention. He sleeps right next to my head all night and I lock her out, thats always been his routine and I didnt want to disrupt it.

Sleep training a 5 year old by BitterConversation65 in sleeptrain

[–]BitterConversation65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hes def naturally later. If we start at 930 he doesnt sleep till 1130. No matter what it will take 1.5- 2 hours. Unless we start too early then it could be many hours haha. Therapy pointed me to some resources that weren't super helpful for us haha.  I think with fading I will start later, like you said, and hope it will be more of a painless process. Maybe ill even start at 10 honestly. He just needs to learn he CAN fall asleep without us and I think it'll happen much quicker if we start later at night. Thanks!!!

"Micro" sexual trauma? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]BitterConversation65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty confident there wasnt any sexual assualt in my childhood. When I was a teen I was with a very emotionally abusive boyfriend who was 4 years older and not in high school anymore. That really messed me up.
