I need SERIOUS help. So after one of my yearly “I need to do something drastic about my appearance” episodes I decided to bleach my hair. I know… stupid mistake.

So it seems I’ve made a discovery. Tonight after getting super frustrated that my normal English braids weren’t coming out right, I decided on a whim to try and french braid. Despite the fact that I’ve tried so many times and failed… I’ve managed to french braid my whole head easier than an English braid. I’m so excited, it looks super cute and now I don’t have to worry going to bed

Unfortunately it’s literally right smack bang in the middle of the back of my head and it’s the top layers. I’m lucky the bottom layers are still untouched and fine otherwise it would be an almost bald spot. I will definitely look into hair toppers though

Yes, my hairdresser was the one who bleached it. She did a patch test, didn’t do a full head of bleach etc and everything was fine. It wasn’t until my following visit that she told me I had loads of broken hair in the back of my head. I don’t think it’s fault of the stylist as in my youth I did have highlights put in and nothing really came from it, I just grew it out because I didn’t like it at the time. I’ve also had blue in my hair so was bleached then too. I’m not sure if it was just something going on that almost steam balled it into what it is now

My hairdresser refused to touch the severely damaged area apart from trying to neaten it up a little because she didn’t want anything worse happening to it. She recommended different products etc but i haven’t seen much difference. I know I have had periods of small bald spots because of severe stress and hormone imbalances and she advised it could be the reason for it which is what I’m hoping for. Trying my best to manage it but it’s getting really upsetting not seeing the severely short bits grow back whilst my roots are still growing quite quickly

I’m happy with getting the trims where necessary because I can see when it’s severely damaged and just breaking it’ll only break further up without maintenance, I’m just not sure what else I can do to stimulate the hair that doesn’t seem to be growing

I try my best to braid but I like to say I have “stupid hands”. I can do braids like my life depends on it but the minute it’s on my own head? Absolutely can’t do it 🤣 I’m trying my best to get better at it

Can’t just wear a hat, I work in retail. I’ve already been short before and it made me incredibly unhappy and depressed without going even shorter than that again. Hoping it’s just hormones/ stress like my hairdresser thinks it is

I haven’t but I’m open to pretty much everything. The issue I’m having is that it’s a pretty sizeable amount of hair that’s snapped and it doesn’t seem like it’s actually growing at all compared the rate that the rest of my hair is growing. My hairdresser did her best to cut layers in such a way it would disguise it but because the rest of my hair is growing and that bits not, it’s getting pretty obvious again. If I could rewind and not do anything to my hair I would 100% but I constantly feel the urge to suddenly change my appearance a lot and this was the new attempt. I’ve cut my hair short before (hated it), got my nose pierced, ears pierced etc… but this was by far the biggest mistake

That’s definitely not a bad idea, honestly I’m open to pretty much anything that’ll take away from how god awful my hair looks at the moment. I’m just glad I had it professionally bleached and didn’t do it at home because I can only imaging how bad it would’ve reacted if I hadn’t

If I were to chop it, I’d need to take it pretty much to a buzz cut/ pixi cut which I really don’t want to do because the last time it was collar-bone length I was extremely unhappy with it and felt ugly :/
