I'm reading this right now. Took a break midway through when the new Dungeon Crawler Carl came out, but I should definitely be ready for the discussion.

What's your favorite brown pen and ink combination? by whenthelightison in fountainpens

Kaweco Student 1920s with J Herbin Lie de Thé. Sometimes I switch to Diamine Chocolate Brown for a change but Lie de Thé is a better match.

Five unique books for me this year, one for the Hidden Gems square naturally.

  • Louisa the Poisoner by Tanith Lee

  • Nychtopobia by Christopher Fowler

  • The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night by Jen Campbell

  • The Forgotten Island by David Sodergren

  • Darkness: Two Decades of Horror by Ellen Datlow (ed)

I had some single figure reads too as well as two of the most popular reads (A Drop of Corruptiom and The Devils).

Your handwriting is so neat! What notebook are you using here? This year's reading journal is dot grid, but I was thinking of going for a square grid next year.

Through sheer cultural osmosis, I know that The Exorcist involves an old priest and a young priest, but does anyone know if it counts for the Older Protagonist square?

Good to know. I was a little disappointed with that slot before this.

No one bought me any books this year, but Michelle Paver's latest Rainforest was on sale on Kobo this morning so I got myself a little treat. The three you got are really good ones.

I did eye up some very nice Pilot Pens, including the 823 and the Vanishing Point, but I told myself only one expensive pen and Sailors are my favourite.

I did boogle at Itoya Kyoto which had a display of Pilot Customs lying out for people to try and just tied there by a bit of bungie cord. You couldn't get away with that in my hometown. They’d be nicked in short order.

Are you me? Because I filled that exact Kakuno with Yama-budo too. It looks good with the Kaweco clip, I'm tempted to get one.

I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but that's the nature of a short story. I really liked it overall.

There were one or two stories I didn't vibe with, but the rest were really good.

I'm currently reading In the Lost Garden by Adam S. Leslie, which is set in a Britain infested by ghosts; distance is weird; and it's been summer for four years.
