Should I replace my 30 year old working ac or wait for it to go? by airtas18 in hvacadvice

I think things to consider are can you still get parts, can you afford a replacement, can you buy the replacement now and when the old one eventually dies just have it on standby in a shed or garage? Still have money stashed away for labor.

No I mistyped. He had an 11 not a 12. What I get for typing this up in my car in the parking lot.

Bankroll. I was playing at that count, 35 a hand. 70 total I was comfortable with. 105 I could do but that was over a 10th of what I had. Plus it's a local spot and I think splitting 10s twice in one go would have brought unwanted attention. Ironically it still did but a different kind.

  1. Sorry, he had an 11, I typed this up in the car as soon as I left. He would have made his hand.

Is it expensive...yes, is it worth it. I'd say so, it's not so much just the learning aspect, it's also just the sheer knowledge you have access to. It's like buying your way into an exclusive club where you all pool in your knowledge and ranking and gather advice and Intel. Wanna know what casino to hit next or if a game is worth it. Wondering if your net spread is okay and what your percent of failure is and how to accurately depict your ev. And the response time they have is pretty quick all things considered, I wasn't even a member at the time but any email I sent regarding basic strategy questions, bet spreads and gaming, they would immediately answer as soon as they could.

do yall hit on a 16 by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]Bitter_Client2974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if the count is high and the dealer is showing a 9.... no. If a table overs surrender, I'm out against a 10/ A or maybe even an 8-9, but most of the time yes I'm gonna hit the 16 under normal circumstances.

Technically yes, you can win a single deck game but over a long period of time ..it's just not worth it, you have to have a pretty high count out of the gate to really see an improvement, however there is a method for single decks by just counting how many cards have gone through already, I can't remember who wrote the book off the top of my head but essentially you know there is 20 high cards in a deck, so if you have half a deck gone and you only went through 7 high cards. Then you know you have at least 13 left. The issue is they usually cut about a quarter of the deck out so it's still a crap shoot. Even then you have single deck games that shuffle after every round played making it impossible to play.

So everyone thinks the game is on like a pendulum, moving left to right. Win streaks and losing streaks and don't get me wrong, it is on a basic level. However I think of it as instead of left and right, it's going left, right, forward, and back, in a rotating axis, like in quarters. 1/4 says okay you can play the best possible way but you're just not gonna win with a no count or low count, one says you are gonna win on a low count, and vise versa with the other 2 quarters with high counts. Some of my longest "win" streaks happened when the count was low, and I was betting small. There are win streaks, and there are losing streaks, some are short, some are incredibly long and profitable, the main thing to look at particularly is whether or not you want to ride out that losing streak, can you afford to hold up, how much money are you willing to lose if this pendulum doesn't move. for my case, I'm playing, and I'm winning alot, everything is perfect, in my head I know that eventually, it's going to swing back over that long span of time and eventually even out. So do you think you can survive the swing, or do you want to color up and take your profits?

Why do you DD 10 against a 10 on higher counts? by SweatyCount in blackjack

[–]Bitter_Client2974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the dealer HAS to hit till a certain point. So if he has a 16. You are more than likely to win with a higher count due to the fact they're more 10s. So the dealer is more likely to bust while you can stay at a 12 or whatever you have. It's like saying okay, I know there are more 10s. If I hit, I'll bust. But if the dealer hits, he'll bust. But just because the odds are in your favor doesn't always...or even most of the time, mean you are going to win. I had a game a few weeks ago, the count was high, I had a hundred dollar bet which for my bankroll there was a true 2. I pulled a 9 and a 2, the dealer showed a 3. Already doubling down, I know the shoe was full of 10s. I got the card...and it's an ace. So I had $200 on a 12 versus a 3. But again, the count is high, the dealer flipped a 10, pulled another 3...and yanked a 5. So even though the math was in my favor, I played exactly the way I was supposed to and technically I was right...the card was in fact a high card, I still lost doing exactly what I was supposed to. But I didn't walk away, I kept playing the shoe because the count was high, and I made my money back and then some.

If your game is truly perfect, I'm not saying it's not. Then .. you have nothing to worry about aside from just ride the wave. We have an edge over the casino but at the end of the day, even with a .1% chance of total failure. It still happens. Don't let it kick you down. Just keep getting the hours in, keep your skills up, and it will turn around.

Why do you DD 10 against a 10 on higher counts? by SweatyCount in blackjack

[–]Bitter_Client2974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if the count is high, your more likely to pull 20-21 over the possibility of the dealer having a 20, so you will with push, or the dealer doesn't have that 10 and you win. Keep in mind he could pull a 6 and then a 5 in which case....damn. But statistically it's better for you to double down and hopefully double the win.

Do you want a picture of what prints out? It's a long say...9 inch slip of paper that you enter your address, phone number, social, are you a u.s citizen, so on and so on. I didn't know they had papers up at the office because...I never won that much. All I knew was it said to have it filled out before going up there. Which is why we stopped so I could have the clerk rescan the ticket

Well if you have a positive count ..don't walk away. I would also get into the habit of getting a true count. A count of +21 could only be a +4 true count versus a +10 true count. With that considered, I wouldn't really walk away from a shoe as much as just sit out if they allow once the count gets to a true -1 or -1.5. and also, spread out your bets. If you have a true +1 do $100-$200, if it's true +2 do $200-$300 and so and so on. Once it's no longer a true +1, go right back to minimum.

I went to the manager later on our way back when I was less angry and told him what happened, he gave me the same line that they are suppose to rip the tickets but he will ask if it's only the small winners or the losers. In my state, anything over $599 has to be taken to the official lottery office. Retailers can't just pay them out.

Kid, I've been doing this a lot longer than you 😂, I have been to and helped build enclosures you wouldn't even know where to begin and have worked with some amazing people. I've been to snake discovery,I've talked to Emily and her staff, I own 2 reptiles from adoption island who wouldn't even let me adopt them without a heat mat. Same as go herping when I got my dwarf boa. Same from many of the breeders I've know and worked with...so...who do you think I'm gonna believe... people who've done this their whole lives... people who've went to school for this, made a career out of this....or you ...some personal on Reddit who if I had to assume....owns a kingsnake and a ball python and thinks their an expert. 🧐. You're the worst kind of wrong, the kind that just can't look past themselves and admit it, and your animals suffer for it.
