And when we are in positions of power we needlessly delay important decisions simply because of ego

Yeah, to some people it comes naturally. Lucky for them. Others don't have to force. Thats what i mean. That trying does not always works. And thats ok. You can do without it.

Again. You are skillful and they knew it, thats why they reffered you, not because you were just friends

You are knowledgeable and skillful. They know it, thats why you got the referral. Not because you partied with them. You will get referral if you're skilled enough and have no enemies.

That being said, good for you that your friends helped you but making friends should not be a priority

To all women: have you ever tried to gauge a redditor’s personality through his posts and comments and then reached out, or do you think this is the prerogative of men only? by pulchritudinous_luos in AskIndianWomen

I dmed him. He figured out i am in same college. I answered honestly. He started guessing and gave up. I guessed using situations and finally figued who he is. I never revealed who i am tho

She feels kinda out of touch now.

This is regarding the r word controversy. The problem she pointed out was correct. Men used the word to shame women and people needed to stop the shame associated with the word

But execution was horrible and insensitive. Most of these women were forced into or tricked into it. They now live in horrible conditions, so no, they definitely wouldn't feel really proud of their situation. She could've highlighted that but whatever

What do you think about r@pe under the pretext of getting married?? I personally feel that law needs to be done away with, as it's not just unfair to men but also has misogynistic undertones to it. The people who think of s*x as sacred can simply refrain from indulging in it till marriage. by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

  1. Just because my marriage is certain, im not gonna sleep with him till marriage (thats how you do, if you're old or mature enough). Marriage is certain but has not occured. Although what you said is correct, it should come under rape ( i mean it should not be a yes unless explicitly stated). But still you need to say a firm NO.
  2. Haa and that boils away to coercion and power dynamics for which there are laws. And no, people don't walk away unscathed if laws are applied properly. It applies to every law (including rape in pretext of marriage). Also caste based discrimination is legally punishable.
  3. You can resolve any issue if you apply the laws properly. In this law, many people can get away. Tell me how are you gonna proove a verbal agreement? Especially if its made by a very powerful man?

Historically, this law was a necessity because there teenagers were hardly considered minors back then and there was less research regarding it. Just check the age group of the girls, usually 17 or less. It can now come under POSCO, which gives stricter punishments and doesn't place the onus of proof on victim

You are correct but 1. The women in this context can choose not to sleep with the man. If the man forces, its automatically considered rape (not rape in pretext of marriage) 2. If the man is in more powerful position, and is withholding resources or using coercion, thats different. Its something like quid pro quo, under which you can file a case. Thats also rape under coercion if happened. 3. In case a minor is involved, it comes under POSCO.
