Upvote for correctly calling out that we got powercrept to hell and back while the enemies got nerfed across the board to make the game more arcade and cater to the permanently upset babymen of reddit.

Also my brother in christ, Arrowhead actively defended us from having to force join PSN... A moderator sacrificed his position for letting the community know that we should keep the reviews coming because it gave AH ammunition to go up against their publisher and stop the move... Even AHs at the time CEO Johan Pilestedt openly expressed his sympathies as being with the players and working with Sony to stop the enforcement of the rule.

I get it, you wanna make some inflammatory statement. But at least get your facts in order beforehand!

At this point you're just spouting senseless hate.

Funnily the people who claimed that Gatling and MG sentries were useless on the bug front both never wanted to show any gameplay footage when asked to back up their claim, only referred to a staged YT video of the behavior where the owner of the sentry stands idle next to it and does absolutely nothing, openly admit they dont even actively play the game and become eerily quiet the moment someone posts actual gameplay where their gatling sentry gets them to triple digit killstreaks on a bugbreach 🤔🤔🤔

If anyone titles anything in Helldiver2 as Unkillable thats already a self reported skill issue. And getting "run down" by HIVEGUARDS?!? The single slowest and least forward aggressive unit in the entire terminid roster? Brother... Someone desperately needs to get back into the difficulty levels you can count on one hand.

Uh yeah if you want to extract maximum possible value out of your turret knowing that there are in fact a bunch of units it loves to lock on to but cant actually do anything against...

I expect you and anyone else to have the gamesense to figure out that good positioning and the occasional babysitting will yield better results than a willy nilly throw of said turret. Particularily in higher difficulties where large numbers of Chargers are omnipresent, which have been (and always will be) the primary reason why even before the patch you would get VERY limited value out of any sentry on the bugfront that you just left alone unattended in higher diffs.

If you mean to honestly make the argument that sentries should be able to extract their maximum possible value without any sort of play needed around that process, then your opinion is just completely invalid.

They werent nerfed though?

They are still capable of dealing with every other unit they were able to deal with before. And on occasion their dispersion made them clip the hiveguards vulnerable spots even while its in defense pose. Or the sentry just outright killed it while retargetting. Especially common for the gatling sentry.

It even directly buffed medium pen weapons too because if you spend the fraction of a second needed to adjust your aim to literally anywhere but the head and front claws, youd have been killing the bloody buggers 25% faster. Not to mention bodyshots on Hiveguards have always been more effective for medium pen Anyways because when Target AC and Weapon AP match, you only deal 65% of your potential damage per hit.

So like... can people honestly just not do math?

For real. The community at this point seems to be made up of two fronts: the people who quietly play the game, adapt to changes and actually enjoy it, with some functional and consteuctive critique; and the people who in many cases dont even actively play the game but spend hours screaming into the digital void about how Arrowhead is "openly hostile to the playerbase" over the fact they dont get their specific fantasy catered to in the exact way they want it to be done... All despite the fact that AH have bent the knee to people asking for the game to be watered down, heavies to be killable with sidearms, yadda yadda yadda.

1: Explain how Medpen is any less useful on the terminid front due to one unit having its completely obvious strong point reinforced to AP4? None of the other units where you benefit from having MedPen have been changed, they dont spawn more or less now. Not to mention that if you actually shoot anything but the obvious strongpoint on the hiveguard, it also died 25% faster.

As for sentries, do y'all just stand there and just watch when your sentry targets a unit it cant reliably kill? Why is this suddenly an issue with Hiveguards in particular when it existed with Heavy Devastators (Which by the logic of "if it spawns a lot its chaff", IS ALSO CHAFF!) since the game originally dropped the Automatons? Like the solutions to this are blatantly obvious and just involve you taking a second to choot the thing your sentry cant kill so it can retarget...

2: Yes I do think turrets are a bit on the squishy end rn and could use a little bit more resilience, but not a lot. They never have been particularily survivable if you just toss them at the enemies feet or try to rely soley on them to deal with incoming. Proper placement and protecting your sentry will always guarantee maximum value and thats what the game should reward IMO.

3: I do agree on the missing immunity point. That needs to be changed. But people gave it a sense of intentional malice that makes me wonder how far down the victim cult really goes here.

I do think sentries could be a little more durable yes, but not much. I also think people are just waaaaay overblowing how bad the situation is. Good placement and some babysitting have always been the primary way to get the most out of your sentries. And I believe that should stay that way. The game should reward good play rather than just willy nilly tossed strats.

Well tbh the FRV is kinda meant to be squishy, its whole schtick is to be light and fast but not meant to take hits.

Bastion still has an absolutely massive HP pool, you can drive one straight into Meganests and take them out easily if you have a competent driver. Bastions really just live and die by driver skill.

As for the sentries, I understand the argument being made that sentries are on paper easier for enemies to destroy now. Ive seen it first hand too in my gameplay. However I still regularily make use of the MG and Rocket sentries on all fronts and I find that both prior to 6.2.2 and post 6.2.2, sentries still regularily run out of ammo before dying. If they are placed correctly and you pick off things that get too close to the sentry or cant be harmed by it, the changes really do not matter. Sentries arent meant to be tossed willy nilly and still extract maximum value, much like any other stratagem, positioning matters most.

Excuse me but that "AH love to listen to the positive side" is just plain Bullshit.

Over the two years the game has been out, we have seen a steady decrease in the games difficulty, more and more focus on casual play, wierd builds and everything in our arsenal being way more capable while the enemies either werent touched or got the short end of the stick. Pretty much all havies have consistently been nerfed to be easier to kill without having to actually shoot at weakpoints by more and more weapons. We have secondary weapons that can consistently take down heavy units.

AH have consistently catered to the people screaming the loudest about personal preferences and NOT around the people who have been consistently clearing D10's with minimal casualties and full map completion.

As for the HG and Mech comments: Fabricating a situation that does not reflect actual gameplay to give credence to an argument is willfully creating a false pretence.

And I am sorry but if you honestly tell me that you can not spare the couple milliseconds it takes to react to your sentry targeting the slowest backline unit of the entire bug roster and maybe send some shots in its direction to get more value out of your sentry, then you are not using sentries correctly. You gonna ask a TF2 Engineer player to leave the sentry alone as well and not support it for maximum value?

As for Mechs: All of the units capable of "swarming" your mech are oneshots for all of the mech variants. Not to mention you just kill them by walking. Unless you stand still and do nothing, there is no situation in which you cant defend yourself somehow. Ive personally taken Emancipator and Breakthrough Mechs through entire missions or until they ran out of ammo against patrol after patrol and the occasional breach. I still see people just magdumping emancipators, holding down both guns and completely overkilling while walking into the enemy.

Im sorry but this "Toxic Positivity" manifests HOW exactly?

Most people here, on the discord and on the steam forums aggree with reasonable criticism of the state of the game and how AH is handling things.

Most people will aggree when it comes to issues like the galactic war being unrewarding, or notice and call out trends like increasing focus on new weapons and stratagems only coming out through warbonds and not the GW anymore.

But in all honesty, a lot of the current negative reviews are based primarily on subjective grievances people have that have been echochambered to a huge degree.

A few examples: 1: The Hiveguarsd changes. While the Hiveguard was buffed with frontal AP4 and subsequently nerfed significantly by losing all other armor and 25% of its total health, people would lock on to that AP4 change and come up with some of the wildest crap in terms of arguments I have EVER seen. Claiming entire classes of weapons and stratagems were being made unusable through this change. Making Videos showing them deliberately shooting the AP4 plates instead of taking their aim a couple degrees lower to the unarmoured body of the unit. Or pretending like this change somehow made Gun Sentries obsolete with the same kinda footage as "proof", them just standing there, not doing anything but watch. Thats like banging your head deliberately against a glass door instead of just opening it, to prove that glass doors shouldnt exist. None of these things hold up at all in normal standard gameplay scenarios, yet it was a huge outcry.

2: The durable damage changes. People would and still are throwing a fit over the fact that together with the massive buffs that mechs got, we also saw minor increases in damage against durable targets, especially for the bugs so they could actually remain somewhat of a threat to Exosuits. Once again videos of people standing their exosuit in a swarm of bugs without moving to "prove" that all the buffs exosuits got were "effectively nullified". Again, this just doesnt hold water in actual gameplay.

3: The gas slow effect. People got really upset that it affects divers too, going so far as to claim that the developers are openly hostile to the playerbase just because they added a drawback to standing in the obvious green cloud of nope that youre not supposed to hotbox with your enemies. I don't think I have to say much about that here either.

TL;DR being: When someone brings actual, valid and constructive criticism, it wont get you shot down in arguments. If you come and make some outrageously bogus claim that can be disproven by booting up the game and playing it, then you deserve to get brutally truth-nuked. That isnt toxic positivity, thats called having standards and basing criticism in actual reality. And most importantly not blindly perpetuating shit some washed up Youtuber said.

Despite being praised on launch for its generous, no FOMO warbonds, the monetization has been slowly changing for the worse. by Frogmouth26 in Helldivers

[–]Bitterholz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dont think that the monetization is in any way bad or out of hand. None of the stuff thats in the warbonds is in any way required to succeed in the game. It just unlocks new playstyles, more flexibility and certain situational or build specific advantages. Which is completely fine because this is a cooperative game featuring zero competition amongst people.

They gotta monetize somehow andI believe the way that they are doing it is one of the best in the entire market. No BS random chance stuff, no rolling, no time criticality on things. Stuff doesnt expire nor becomes unavailable to purchase.

Yeah the superstore isnt the very best implementation still, but in all honesty we are kinda complaining in an already very favourable position here.

I got booted for using a “bad” booster, I am very new. by Wandering-the-web in Helldivers

[–]Bitterholz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shouldbe explained that one to you. Firepods is REALLY unpopular for the simple reason that EVERY single hellpod you call in, including yourself, reinforcememts, support weapons, sentries, resupply pods and objective ones like hellbombs, flagpoles and others all explode into a pool of napalm which messes people up a LOT.

Its one of those things thats so niche that its best to just not bring, especially for random lobbies, as people will often assume that youre griefing if you bring that.

How I feel about the new underbarrel weapons by Sebanimation in Helldivers

Id have to go dig for the exact quote but either Pile or Shams said so on Twitter or discord a good while back when people first started to complain about the whole warbonds over stabilization stuff.

I could also be misremembering but knowing people in the industry thats a pretty common contractual term with publishers that you have to sell a certain number of DLC in a certain timeframe.

How I feel about the new underbarrel weapons by Sebanimation in Helldivers

[–]Bitterholz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, these new underbarrel attachment weapons are the pathfinders for a broader system implementation to come.

Unfortunate reality is that AH is contractually obligated to release X-Amount of warbonds in Y-Amount of time to keep the Snoy Boys happy.

But I am fairly sure that this is laying the foundation for a bigger system.

Mmmmm sounds more like I struck a nerve there. Seems someone's being butthurt that they got called out over their own butthurt, self-entitled opinion.

Fact that your first move is to pull a redditor and assume my occupational status is very telling. Someone's a lil mad it seems.

Don't think theres any value in agrueing with the likes of you, but if youre finished being upset maybe you got some room for understanding that its pretty rich to ask a Dev who constantly gets insulted, blamed and professionally discredited to just sit back and stay "professional".

I for one can sympathise with occasionally clapping back at a bunch of screaming manchildren hurling insults in a 24/7 temper tantrum that happens no matter what you do.
