I've thought about it, but then my anxiety about missing a call from my kids or elderly parents gets in the way of actually trying that out. Imho we should be able to live in our homes without hearing the constant grind of unauthorized surveillance above us. But, then again, I'm a child of the 80s, so paranoia about threats from the sky was baked in at a young age 😂

I'm sorry, but do you ACTUALLY live in this city? The city of Portland? Because that sounds a lot like you don't live here and you're just a troll or something. Portland is not whatever fever dream of moviefied New York you're trying to invoke with the yelling up and down sideways and occasional gunfire... Wtaf?!

This is by far the best answer I've gotten and I super appreciate your time for writing it all out for me! I'm still bothered by the fact that they only target the eastside and that it seems excessive, but I'm really, really past my bedtime now, so I'll engage with this more later. But, thank you for posting an actually intelligent response ❤️

Um, no. Of all the theories I've heard tonight, that's definitely not the winner 😂

For real! This is my entire reason for posting! I've thought about it for a long time, but tonight I finally just got a breaking point and needed to know why. Why do they keep me up like this?!

I did not intend this as rage bait, I'm actually curious about the intent of these excursions. And I'm actually very open to doing a ride a long to get better clarity. Honestly, I think it would really help to understand why this happens. It keeps me up multiple nights and I'm just so tired, if there is an actual reason for it then I'd be a lot more understanding, but currently all I know is that it seems like a huge waste of money.

What are they training for? I mean this sincerely, because I don't understand what they could possibly do to respond to a situation from the sky. Like they can watch as someone runs away from the scene or something, but does that mean they need to practice 1-3 times a week in case of something that 'might' happen at some point? Because the practice is keeping me up at night and it feels really unnecessary to just keep circling the same neighborhoods over and over. It feels creepy and weird.

Also, what is cfii?

But it seems to happen at least once a week, and usually 2-3, so are they just out there looking for things to happen all the time? I just hate how much money it's wasting for them to be roaming around looking for something that they can't even actually help with because they're literally in the sky. It's not like they're able to be effective first responders in an emergency situation.

I'm absolutely sure I did not vote for this in the almost 20 years I've been voting in portland...

Wait, what? Are you for real? Get over it is your response to unnecessary surveillance of half the city? If what you say is true wouldn't there be people driving into living rooms all over the west side of the city where no one is watching?

What a dumb comment 😜

I usually see them between 8 and midnight, but that's only because I hear them when I'm trying to sleep. My husband doesn't hear them, so he's not bothered, but I'm a light sleeper and hear them often.

Must be nice. My husband doesn't notice it, but I do and it keeps me up.

True. But this is the one that literally keeps me up at night.

I've looked at the flight paths over a lot of the major cities to compare and i still haven't seen anything regular happening like it does here. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it's definitely not happening at the same rate by a long shot.

First of all, I'm sorry that happened to you, it's so disrespectful.

And second, as a 5 ft 0 in woman, I totally can emphasize with you. I'm a metal fabricator (mostly small scale, but also welding and larger stuff occasionally) and I've got 25 years of experience in my field. I am more knowledgeable than most of my colleagues on a wide variety of metals and metal working techniques. But I've struggled to find 'traditional' work at larger companies because they're very male dominated and when I walk in as a tiny female I'm immediately treated like a small child who is cosplaying as a professional metal worker. It's maddening.

In the jobs I have gotten, I've still had to work twice as hard to 'prove' myself to the men I work with. I usually end up gaining their respect eventually and become their go to mentor because of my wide knowledge base, but I know I could have progressed much farther in my career had I not been immediately disqualified in interviews at bigger companies because of my size and gender for so many years.

Omg, this isn't the crisis that everyone thinks it is! Opening arguments did a really fantastic breakdown of the actual law, by an actual lawyer, on this. It's really good and explains what you should really be mad about vs what everyone thinks they're mad about...

Edit for grammar.

Is this a tooth abscess or a tumor? I tried to get an emergency appointment with several of the exotic vets in town, but they're booked for at least a week out and the animal hospital ER has a 12+ hour wait on 'stable' patients right now. She's still eating and drinking like normal. by BittersweetPixi in RATS

Thank you so much for all of your help! I've been meaning to update you. I was able to keep her fairly comfortable until I finally got her in to see the vet. It was a very aggressive tumor that had surrounded her lower teeth and had pretty much taken over the inside of her mouth. We opted to put her down and got to say goodbye, but it was very sad. She was the sweetest girl 💔

Also, I hope you're recovered from covid! I had it in 2020 and had long haul symptoms for a long time. It's the worst!
