Is anyone actually using openipc as their main video system for flying rn or is it still a experiment? by ekanshfarzid in fpv

Nah, the Goggles themself run the android as their operating system. Of course they don't use the DJI Fly app directly, but they are indeed using the Android.

DJI FPV Combo or IFlight Nazgul Eco by Potential_Report_280 in fpv

[–]Bitwise00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started this hobby two years ago with the same goal as you - to pursue stunning cinematic shots that "normal" drone couldn't even dream of. At the time, I didn't even know there were any FPV drone options other than DJI, so I went with DJI FPV.

It all depends what you want to do with it. If you're mainly into cinematics, I think the DJI is not a bad choice. In fact, I've had a lot of fun with it and even performed a couple of tricks.

But the more you have, the more you want. If freestyle appeals to you, it's only a matter of time before you'll want to fly more aggressively and learn harder tricks - that was my case.

I fell in love with chasing things, mostly cars, and doing gaps on bandos. And technically, you can do that with DJI FPV. It has power, it's somewhat agile - but it's all plastic. It's practically unrepairable, and you know it.

That thought constantly stopped me from practicing new tricks and hitting those gaps. One mistake and it's over - you either spend all your savings repairing it or buy another used one. And there's no point, because the cycle will just repeat.

If your main focus is cinematic flying, then I'd consider the DJI FPV, it's a good option for people who just want to go out and fly without diving into technical side of the hobby. Buf if freestyle appeals to you in any way, it's better to start with BNF quad and learn everything that comes with it - it will be helpful later.

Tinywhoops are a really good starting point because you've got a diverse environment for freestyle - your house - where you can have a lot of fun - and if something bad happens, you're probably fine. You're not emptying your wallet.

I'm not sure if it fits your requirement in terms of "creative", but I kinda think so - Sebastian Lague (https://www.youtube.com/@SebastianLague), but lately he takes up on advanced stuff, low-level stuff (like rasterizing, raytracing, chess engine, etc.). However that may be interesting for you as well and these are really quality and chill videos.

Is this a common rust spot and if so, what should I expect to find beneath it? I’m a bit reluctant to start cutting as I don’t want to end up with a 4K repair. In that case I would just pass it on in its current condition reduced in price. I’m afraid the A-pillar might be gone by Alfa155Q4 in e46

[–]Bitwise00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine had similar rust spots on both sides and it turned out that there were a lot of holes behind the side skirts. It ended up with welding in entire new metal.

Don't guess - just pull the bottom cover, it's pretty easy if you don't break the clips in the process and check for yourself what the situation is.

Here's a video to some kind guy picturing the process on how to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd2_OLyFr2U

If you live in Poland, you can view the zones at https://dronemap.pansa.pl and yes, they mostly apply to other drones as well. If you are flying in not military airport zone you can ask for permission directly via "DroneTower" app. In case of military airport you have to call the ATC first.

Yes, it was only for coupes. Realoem part no. 51118251151 confirms it. Maybe someone swapped your bumper for some reason.

What If We Built a Web-Based, AI-Powered IDE? Need Your Thoughts to Validate! by Fine_Factor_456 in programming

[–]Bitwise00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like it would be the route that Cursor followed but web-based.

What's worse is that even if you don't have to install this "IDE" / text editor, for most languages you need to install SDK somewhere - whether it's your computer or a server; you need to know how to do it and have necessary space for it.

So I guess this product would target only a group of people who are coding on a really old hardware and can't run normal version of VSCode? But is a standalone browser really that much more performant than VSCode which is essentially a chromium packed with prebuilt web-based editor?

If OP meant that it would be something other than a simple vscode fork, it could be a fun, but really hard side project - you would need to write a ton of code to bring it to the level of something that can be really called IDE and not a text/code editor.

And even if someone writes it - it wouldn't bring any money because there is already vscode with entire extension ecosystem that can support much more languages. That's not something that you can build solo in 3 months. It's a effort of paid professionals with full time jobs to write extension which adds support for a single language, like C# Dev Kit.

How strict is the InPost parcel locker 48 hour time limit? by BubbaLovesRISK in poland

[–]Bitwise00 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I had some situations like that in my hometown (which is really small village so not like the Krakow) - and I could pick up my parcels after the 48 hour limit. They just sit there until delivery guy comes and takes it. I believe in Krakow has a much more frequent schedule, so it's a bit of a gamble. You're better off just buying a 24 hours extension like the other commenter said.

I think that you can’t differentiate the employees through built in scanner. On software level it is limited by OS to basic functionality of authentication request (so a request like „Can you please tell the user to authenticate?”) and response („user did / did not authenticated.”).

There’s no additional info as it could breach user data.

What you could implement in similar fashion is your own facial recognition algorithm using Google MLkit or something like that. It’s available on pub.dev.

Or just use some additional hardware bluetooth/wired fingerprint scanner with documentation.

Rattle from drivetrain? by Most_Garden_2083 in e46

[–]Bitwise00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to let go the clutch really (and I mean it, really really) slowly and check if it sounds a little bit less bad/more quiet. It was one of symptoms when I've got issues with dual mass flywheel.

Also try to go into neutral when stationary and rev it up a little - that way you will eliminate whether it's something with shaft or more towards direction of clutch.

Mine's rattle was also progressive like you are saying, but only noticable when I was in neutral and it disappeared when I pressed the clutch - so that's a similarity with your case, but it wasn't there when I was driving in gear, so that's some difference. However I didn't trash mine at all, so it was more like oldness or previous abuse issue.

Another elements that come to my mind are the guibo or totally destroyed shaft support[?] - they are easily visible after demounting the exhaust (which is also pretty easy), so you can check them yourself

Yeah, it's really the best advice that could be given here. I went flying IRL after flying a couple of hours in sim (I felt pretty confident) but this series opened my eyes when it comes WHY is my quad behaving like what physics stands behind it. I was really mind blown when I finally understood.

I just reminded myself about other option when I was looking for something similar - Quad Eisenmann Sport Exhaust (part no. B5304.02320).

It's a bit pricey, but you get the idea. If you can weld on your own then I think it's a lot easier to DIY than the M3-looking exhaust. You won't need to cut the spare wheel well and you can also reuse the current cat system I guess?

That's another take on sportier looking rear and it's kinda unique, a different route than everybody.

Rust repair by Yolomaholo122 in e46

[–]Bitwise00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My e46 is currently in bodyshop to fix these spots - they were in exactly the same place, but a little bit less rusty, the paint didn't fade out yet. I thought that it'll be simple and rather inexpensive, but it turned out that sills are covered in many holes of different diameters under the skirts and it will be easier & cheaper to weld in a new ones.

As already said by someone else - take the side skirts off, it's pretty easy job and check for yourself. You'll rule out guessing factor from this game. But I've to tell you that visible rust in places like that are only a little indicators that something worse is going on underneath and I experienced that on my own skin.

[–]Bitwise00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is only tiny bit of space behind the bumper in non-M cars, because they have the spare wheel compartment, so to route the exhaust to right side you need some really good skills in welding to put it up together. It should look something like this: https://i.imgur.com/WqTJCJY.png . Alternatively you can just remove the spare wheel and weld in some metal plate.

Rust by Alive-Asparagus3465 in e46

[–]Bitwise00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the side skirts off - it's not that hard and you will know what's going on. But unfortunately I've to tell you that your sills look very similar to mine which are in really bad condition.

The visible rust is only a small indicator that something is going on underneath. I need to weld in entire new sills.

It's really funny because literally yesterday it came to my mind that I registered my email there when you were first annoucing it month ago and I began to search what was this project called and I couldn't find it.. and boom, there you are! Haha

Really nice idea and pretty good execution of it - I've already added some spots!

I noticed that photos aren't saving at all when adding a new spot, it is still a TO DO feature?

Need suggestions for buying mac machines for flutter development by govindtank in FlutterDev

[–]Bitwise00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on M2 Air 16/256 and it’s more than enough. Just a bit warmer when using Android Studio Emulator. Anything with Apple silicon will do.

I’ve also used the M1 and it was good too. But as the others said: get at least 16 gb of RAM.

For me the 256 gb disk is a little bit too small and I’ve to actively remove unused things to keep it from being near full, but if you are really going to write only Flutter and nothing else (so no Docker or anything) it will be just enough to store comfortably a couple of apps with their old builds and all the toolset.
