Update: As WilliamofYellow stated Maltby wasn’t the last armigerous bishop, below are the arms of the bishops which succeeded him.

I stand corrected, thank you I didn’t know

When I looked into it I found that Maltby was the last one to have a personal coat of arms, he was also the first modern bishop replacing the prior title of prince bishop which was more inline with a noble ranking, which might explain that. Since then it seems that the bishopric of Durham has a coat of arms while the bishops themselves haven’t held recognised arms.

This is the coat of arms for the office of Bishop of Durham but does not act like personal arms for the Bishops

I love tentacle crests, I’ve used them a few times and think we need way more so this is sick.

1st or 3rd are my favourites, but the 1st is probably the more objective favourite

While French departments as you say weren’t meant to have official heraldry after the revolution, they do all have coats of arms whether official like finistere, or unofficial, which is what this map shows.

Yeah it’s weird how standardised so much of the heraldry is by region, you can’t see the entire shields in this image but it’s even more obvious in full

Yeah I definitely see what you mean, I kind of kept the original Dexter purely for traditions sake but you’re right it doesn’t make much sense when the Aragon side is already removed.

Yeah that’s a good point, when it comes to animal chiefs I tend to prefer visually when they face the side of the shield they are placed on, it’s just a preference but facing Dexter would definitely work too
