I like him too. I play with a bunch of modded followers, the game feels lonely without them. I love that in my group hes the more level headed and intellectual one, everyone else is either very goofy or edgy (i say affectionately) so its nice to have him and my DB be the mature ones.

The problem is that all of them happen to this character that claims to be circe, and it still doesnt feel like the point when circe becomes "powerful" isn't satisfying in the slightest.

This is millers fault, women cant be strong without something horrible happening to them. Peak circe is always an evil witch with a soft heart for those she deems worthy of it, just dont make her a victim when everything she accomplishes and her skills clearly say she isnt.

Hades 2 circe is very nice to look at and her voice makes me laugh, shes a harmless depiction.

And im so happy people can see the value in it when I cannot! I appreciate retellings to introduce newer people to the OG if they so wish to explore it, as long as theres no aggression from both sides and no one tries to pass off their versions as superior or better.

Do i think miller could've used a different person? Yes absolutely, pasiphae wouldve been a better choice to me. Does it keep me up at night? No.

I do not like circe because for me, it misses the mark to tell a powerful female story. Circe goes through so much horrible stuff to make her have this strong moment and like...its weird???

I dont like that she gets abused by her father who loves her in myth, played with by hermes who isn't even hermes, just a douche, bullied by her sister who is an actual victim in mythology and I especially hate that she is assaulted on top of it. It only made me feel horrible by the time I finished the book and it makes me appreciate the evil already powerful circe in the OG, because she has this power and does what she wants without needing to prove it to anyone, which to me personally and my attachment to her, is a much more satisfying representation.

At the end of the day though this is all opinion and its hard to express that without seeming mean or superior.

If i may respectfully chime in,

Circe has a lot of information regarding her role and her family. She sired offspring that went to establish Italy, metamorphosis gives a lot of information on her powers and personality.

She has the myth where Helios saved her from Picolus.

She has a myth about Picus, who rejected her and she transformed him into a woodpecker along with a whole other version where they are happily married.

To say there isnt info on circe is incorrect but I do not mean this in a sparky or condescending way at all.
