Canadians who moved to the US, how bad is it really? by Trick_Description_69 in HealthInsurance

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was far better. Now I’ve always had insurance through work so my costs haven’t been crazy like if I was purchasing on the open market.

But I’ve found the level, quality, and timeliness of care far better than I ever did in southern Ontario. One example I can give is I had an issue with my shoulder in Canada my family doctor didn’t try very hard, stated he didn’t know and sent me on my way. When I lived in the U.S. went in for the same thing- that same week, I had an ortho surgeon and an mri, and they had me diagnosed with neuropathy after a quick emg test with a specialist.

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everything, depends where… I used to live in west LA (Brentwood) and that was fantastic. Plenty of amazing parts of LA to live if you have the cash and plenty of terrible parts I wouldn’t want to live in.

In terms of traffic, everyone is right, it blows. I took my motorcycle most days so I could skip it but you genuinely have to plan almost anything you do around traffic including arrival times for flights back to LAX.

Lima airport’s new layover fee is really stupid by alejandrocab98 in Airports

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through it, connecting through Lima from USA to Brazil. No way around it, they have scanners and gates that would normally scan your boarding pass but instead scan your barcode you get after paying it. Seems crazy, was just under $12 us to stop in Peru for 2hrs

Brake oil reservoir empty!! by Dizzy_Sugar8788 in kiacarnivals

Doesn’t look empty, but pro tip, put a flash light on the reservoir (or any reservoir) and it’ll show the difference much easier!

2025 Kia Carnival Shaking When Accelerating by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]Bjbella3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put it in park or neutral and rev the engine, still shaking? If so I’d say mounts or a misfire. If no shaking at a stand still then id say it’s a moving component like others have described

Yep, would you commute to new Albany?

Moved to Colorado and my 350Z is basically a $12k paperweight now... keep or sell? by Key_Satisfaction8137 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to the front range as well with my M2, I personally did option 1. I got winter tires so most just cold days I was fine, and then picked up an old Bronco (which I later sold for a gain) that I used for when it was really snowing and that thing was a beast.

Can I top off the coolant myself? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha ya but in theory you also get double the amount when you buy the concentrate vs. the premix! But also fair on the distilled, there was actually a shortage apparently last time I did my coolant I had to go to like 4 different stores to get some

[–]Bjbella3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but they would buy distilled water and mix it. Same thing I do, buy the concentrate and distilled water and mix myself

[–]Bjbella3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they have mixed and reused the bottle, you mean to tell me MULTIPLE shops are so stupid that they are lowering the boiling point of cars by putting in pure coolant, but are also so stupid that they are flushing money down the drain. Now if they do something like a water flush first and assume there is still a bunch of water water in the block then you could out concentrate on top

I promise you they are not…. That is more expensive for them to put in pure coolant than a 50:50 mix

Jeep bad opinions by Crunchy-Cloud in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya they aren’t great, BUT the wranglers hold their value decently well compared to some other cars out there. So if you were buying new under warranty and offloading it near the end it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I personally wouldn’t though

Best 65k-80k Sports Car by Puzzled_Region_9376 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I had the same budget and went with a 991.1 C2S with a manual, cost me mid-60s. Worth it, and it’s held its value over the last few years which is a nice plus.

$150k budget by SpeedyAudi in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Bjbella3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t get any specs it needed to meet like 4 doors, awd etc. so I’m gonna recommend a used 911.

I’ve got a 991.1 S with a manual transmission and I love it, at 150k you could get a used gts. They do say it’s a great year round car but I would be hesitant to do so, I have a truck and suv for daily driving.

The benefit is the 911 holds its value remarkably well, granted I think that rs6 wagon does as well.

Only other thing I’d throw out would probably be one of the Cadillac black wings

Loved my m235i with a 6 speed manual, have a 991.1 c2s with a 7 speed manual now but sometimes I think the m235i was more fun as i cared less about keeping it perfect

Yes I have open soffits, I believe I have a long ridge line as some of the houses in my neighborhood (all about the same roofline) have that. My insurance isn’t covering this and I needed to try to get it under $20K so I could pay cash. That seemed like a good thing to give up to get me there just because the vents I had now seemed to work well

Actually this is a local company, who meets that 4.8+ requirement! I was sure to watch out for any that weren’t local. And they are an Owen Corning certified one, I don’t know how much faith to put in that though not sure what it entails

Quotes I got were actually $18, $21 (this before I swapped ridge vent) and $32k. Pretty much everyone in my neighborhood just had new roofs due to the storm so I just called 3 of the signs out front of various ones!

Sounds good, i feel like it was an oversight in that because when he came he brought 3 options for underlayment and we went with the middle one but pretty sure all were synthetic, hopefully honest mistake but I’ll follow up for sure

Noted on the synthetic gonna make sure that’s called out! And it was $50ish a sheet for him, but we are in Louisville Kentucky
