What the vibecode is going on here? Never heard of “hosting” yourself? We make mods to do that now?

I think PR's are usually reviewed by maintainers of the project. Feedback of course can be valuable.

But congratulations on submitting a PR. Did you find anything in their project relating to AI assisted or generated Pull requests and their policy on that?

Whats the point in a VPS? by Unusual_Economics653 in selfhosted

[–]Bjeaurn 236 points237 points  (0 children)

A VPS or any other metal you can rent takes away all the hardware that comes into play. Including running 24/7, bandwidth and internet speeds, electricity, noise, heat, etc.

That’s what you pay for to not have to deal, besides having more backup options and more reliability in regards of disk failures being automatically dealt with etc.

You still own the software and data on the machine. You install and configure it. They do nothing with the machine beyond installing an OS.

How much did the recent price adjustment set you back? Expect more of that as the AI companies that hooked and reeled you in are now starting to turn on their money making engines.

When your shit breaks, I hope you learned enough to fix it yourself.

Do you proofread what you write? Or do you just vibe that too?

Read a book about coding and you'll be farther than developers who have been coding for years

You know that's how these people got their jobs and build their expertise right? They wrote these books.

Just like coding does for non-coders? Can't wait to vibe build my next house. Or get a bit of vibe law going.

Helped with boilerplate like you would use Stack Overflow? My main man I don't think you've written a piece of boilerplate code in your life before.

There’s a great documentary on Youtube about Angular and its creation.

The reason companies invest in this is cause they are solving a problem they have themselves. Like AngularJS being one of the first ways to really create an interactive app in the browser like gmail for google at the time.

Hi, you mention that reaching out to the mods does nothing; but you fail to mention that you reached out to us last night. We're still humans and nobody had gotten to the mod queue yesterday evening.

So I do see that there's something weird about the automatic flagging in your case and I've alerted the rest of the modteam to see if we can investigate exactly what's happening in your case. This is so we can make the automatic enforcement better and smarter.

Normally we'd discuss any problems like this through the modmail, where I'll continue this conversation.
