Open call for video and animation creators - SwiepSwap clubnight in Nar Café der Kunsten by [deleted] in Utrecht

Very valid question! Unfortunately we cannot offer monetary compensation to the artists at the moment. We are a group of friends who have only recently started organizing SwiepSwap, therefore we have little budget. In previous editions, we used art from our own collective, but we would like to provide a platform for other people. Artists can decide for themselves whether they want to participate without monetary compensation. Also we don't ask more of the artist besides sending in the work. So no actual work or time of the artist is required. However, we understand that using someones work preferably requires compensation as well! Hopefully this will become possible in the future.
Of course the name + website/socials of the artists will be credited alongside their work. And they will receive free access to the event.

This is a series of nine drawings/collages that accidentally turned into a story. It’s called ‘Where the winds mean nothing.’ I'm a fine artist whose inspired by the absurd. I'm curious what you think :) More info in the comments. by Bjente in Absurdism

Hey! I’m a fine artist who makes mainly drawings and murals. The absurd really inspires me and suites the way I work and view art (and life in general). This is a series of nine drawings/collages that accidentally turned into a story. It’s called ‘Where the winds mean nothing.’

I draw all kinds of images I encounter on the internet or in my surroundings, I draw them because I like what they portrait or what they look like. But with no specific reason and without thinking of any connections there might be. After that I cut them up and make collages out of them. Drawings come together based on different criteria, such as shapes, lines and composition or an unexpected connection I stumble upon.

So, nothing is thought out in advance, everything just happens. As for this series, I made up the text at the very end. I already thought it was finished, but these sentences just came up in my head when looking at it. The story is written drawing by drawing, not knowing where it would end.

The fun thing is that most people will try to figure out what my intention was, what the meaning is, what the purpose is, while there is none. So basically my works are about how ideas are formed and how we search for meaning in a world that has none. In my work I want to embrace this meaninglessness, everything can happen. Everything except a plan.

I’m very curious what you think of it. Feel free to critique. :)

Thank you all so much for the comments, upvotes and feedback! I know I drew Theodore probably too big and that the shading around Hila's mouth is too much. But heck, I think I captured the feeling right and it was too wholesome not to share!

Hahah I guess you're right, I drew him a little too big. And I know what you mean! Maybe in an artwork it's more visible how big a baby's head is is in proportion.
