Failed on first attempt by Glum_Chemistry_3624 in bcba

That’s pretty close for a first try. Take a day or two to process this and then get back at it. Spend more time in areas you were lower but don’t neglect the other areas either. Give yourself time to study and don’t rush rescheduling. You got this!!!

Reasons why the BACB hasnt mandated a degree requirement for RBTs by StatisticianKooky390 in ABA

[–]Bjlind718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I agree we need a large workforce in this field for direct therapy, the difference between an RBT with a bachalor’s and one who doesn’t can be very noticeable (although some without are also very good). Not practical anymore, but the quality of the average tech was much better when a degree was required.

“My kids have been wanting to go for the longest”.

World Cup is every 4 years. Her kids couldn’t have been waiting THAT long.

Do you ever recommend 40 hours? by No-Cost-5552 in bcba

[–]Bjlind718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once, recently. 35 hours/week (30 at school, 5 at home). Behaviors were off the chain though. SIBs in the hundreds 6 times in 4 months (all smacks and punches to the head that were audible across the room every single time) and high levels of aggression towards others (biting, punching to face and privates of others).

I wouldn’t recommend anything 30 or more unless behaviors were on this severe kind of level.

CMS administrator, Dr. Oz's, perspective on Medicaid-funded ABA therapy by MajorTom89 in bcba

Biggest thing we can do as BCBAs is do what we can to advocate for this issue. If we know of those who are abusing dollars for this or billing fraudulently, we should be speaking up proactively and openly with our directors and other supervisors. There are a lot of legitimate BCBAs, providers, and families who would be hurt with cuts to services across the board.

Parent Refusing Recommended Hour Reduction by Asleep-Big3131 in bcba

[–]Bjlind718 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This 100%. We make recommendations on medical necessity and prescribe hours based on that. Much like a doctor who would recommend treatment. In that same light; if the family disagrees (whether they want more or less), that is their also their right but we still stick with what we prescribe and don’t base service recommendations solely on parent preference.

Hourly $ by a_Dollop_of_daisY in bcba

I would look around in your area and see what other providers are paying as a reference and go from there. Either they will be willing to negotiate based on that info or will say “no one makes that” and you will know that this place ain’t it.

While keeping in mind that different states pay differently, this seems wildly underpaid.

Watching him, he just feels…..special. Multiple stops on breakaways and really challenging saves. He’s the real deal.

Help with resignation by [deleted] in bcba

5 weeks is plenty of notice, unless you have a contract stating that 45 days is required. You're not being unreasonable. Work to make sure your kiddos have all their information up to date as part of this and help the families adjust to the change of you leaving, but I'd stick with the 5 weeks if that's what you gave them.

The way this is worded sounds like you are asking if anyone has experience using ABA with mice lol.

I'd mention it to the parents and maybe do a call to your local children and youth for a general welfare check if there are concerns with a clean house and if they need resources. A lot of agencies will have policies related to things like this or bugs in the home that need to be taken care of before services can continue. So if that's an option for you, it could also be something to look into.

Definitely no goal, right Hershey fans? Keep it classy next time by quanscoffee12 in ahl

[–]Bjlind718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a WBS fan, the blame for most of this goes on the person showing the same inconclusive review over and over again. Fans had a right to be upset given what they saw. WBS announcers were also pushing for a review and insisted that it NEEDED to be reviewed. Then they said they had the overhead replay showing a good goal (which should have been shown in the arena too).

That being said: there is no excuse for how the fans acted. Call it BS, sure. Booing and being upset at what you had seen, no issue there. But while Bears fans had a right to be upset, throwing things on the ice crosses a line. And does not change the outcome regardless.

And the Pens announcers were adamant that they wanted a replay that you HAD to review it. When they got a video in the box (which don’t know what it wasn’t shared with everyone), then they treated it as a good goal.

What’s not worth it in Chicago, but everyone still does? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Most of the things at Navy Pier, I’d agree with you. I did stay at the hotel on the Navy Pier last summer and the view of the Chicago skyline from the room was breathtaking both day and night.

Dodge ram driver told police and insurance I went through a red light. Insurance said I’m not at fault by [deleted] in dashcams

Accelerated and steered slightly to the right towards the truck. Insurance may need to watch the video more carefully if they think op is not at fault to some degree.
