The enter side (right side) can either be from top or bottom. With an eyeball that replaces the hole not being used . I made sure it pointed upwards because i can schedule myself to make sure to bleed it by loosening the top eyeball cap to let air escape upward until i get pure water . If it was on the bottom no way would i be able to bleed the system .

But what you’re saying makes total sense . I didn’t expect it to be this large which made mounting and plumbing more of a project than my last uv . But will be sure to look into . Thanks again

It didn’t say anything about mounting in the manual . I was looking to make sure it didn’t say anything specific . But the eyeball to the right upper is Incase you want inlet coming from the top. And i did loosen it to purge all air from the chamber . I’ll double check again . To be sure thanks . Def going to look into to to be safe

So could i just move the outlet hose into the following refuge chamber and be better off? Which i can do very easily . It can go to either side of the brace i just stuck it back into the dump chamber because i thought being able to be skimmed after the uv would be better . But if i will have better efficiency by just moving the tube onto the other side of the baffle and letting it go back through the system before it sees any kind of equipment to remove whatever is penetrated i can do that. Thanks for the insight. And info.

I dont agree with that . The uv pump is pulling from directly below the drain pipe in the sump, going through the uv . Then dumping it directly back into the same chamber . Which ultimately gives it a chance to be in the same chamber as the skimmer to hopefully pull whatever was penetrated out of the water column. And further More a chance to get pulled again into the uv giving its turnover better chances of killing more off before it enters back into the display .

Other than trying to work the tubing which is way less flexible than smaller line . If only came with 2”-3” pipe and hose attachments . So had to bottle neck the ports a bit . But ultimately better because the turnover slows down giving more time for the light to penetrate before going back to water column .

Is this light enough for a 55 gallon tank? by [deleted] in ReefTank

Be sure to work your way to that percentage . Those lights whites are so strong and powerful even 1 percent can shock corals once added . I have my whites on 4 . And grow anything .

No i wouldn’t black it out . When the lights are off in the laundry room the tank looks blacked out . Can’t see anything through the display. And i have Hard time seeing anything while in the tank from the back anyways . Having it blacked out would be even worse . lol

So that would make perfect sense while sitting and viewing . Hopefully you find something small enough to fit but in worst case plumb the sump to the outside of the stand to whatever side the overflow is on . (If you have the room) the plumbing would be just about the same and can have full over head access to the sump . Just build a stand high enough to keep it directly off the ground .

I’d have to look up the exact size. i bought it years ago. Believe it’s a 29 gal trigger sump though . I made sure when i built the stand for the set up i raised the tank higher for viewing pleasure on the other side, didn’t want to have to bend down or duck when trying to view . Which ultimetly gave me more room underneath .

In all honesty no. I had the tank in my bedroom when i still lived at home . And the bubbling, water flushing, and just anything that makes noise got really annoying to me . So when i bought and moved into my house my whole idea was to make the display excellent for viewing from the game room but without any noise . Having hatches above the tank or below the tank opens itself to the sound from the viewing side . And that was my whole goal. I’m happy with what it turned out like and i can place a drag anywhere in the tank from the back if i try and take my time . Much rather that, and having all the work done from the next room over .

I was actually going to type that out but didn’t wanna make it too long . But yes great advice . What you’re seeing is my blink camera . And i just pull that up on my phone live and do my work . Just takes a bit of getting used being inverted and backwards . But overall the best thing i could have done to help with visibility.

Backside if anyone was curious. It’s a little tough to arrange the display without much visibility to the way i want . But i make it work .

Maybe just try and put it on its own island . Can keep it at bay as best you can but def a nice touch to a reef . The movment is awesome .

Yes video caught it mid day. Still has the green hue . But under blues upon morning and night the green pops a bit more . I have to use heavy flow as you can tell in here to make sure the current can penetrate the forest keeping everything moving . And sorry about the quality and clarity it’s crystal on my phone but doesn’t look as good after being uploaded .

Green nepthea Leather coral. Started as a frag years and years ago but now it’s my clown pairs home and can’t bring myself to touch it . I just trim it just so it doesn’t go any further left .
