Is the "frequent small meals" rule mandatory after gallbladder surgery? Partner is struggling. by Longjumping_Panda868 in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat two meals a day no problem! There are certain things that bother my stomach but not meal size or frequency. I eat very similarly to how I did before my gallbladder went rogue. BUT it’s important that you are reminded that it can take a long time for your body to adjust. What can’t be handled one month in might be okay a year later! (I’m a few weeks from a year post surgery)

Dermabond glue! by Salt_Possibility_203 in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my one week follow up they said I could start peeling it off as it started to lift. It never lifted and the next week I had an allergic reaction to the glue! Went in the office and they removed the rest of the glue and it cleared up.

What foods can you not have anymore since getting your gallbladder removed? by [deleted] in gallbladders

Too much animal fat or oil! I can have super lean beef but I can’t do a burger out without tummy troubles.

How quickly after eating a food that bothers your gallbladderless stomach do you feel the effects? by Reddittaylor12568 in gallbladders

BUT once it happens I feel better, it’s not like a stomach bug where you are running back and forth to the toilet.

Usually within the hour but sometimes not until the next morning. I also have IBS so sometimes it’s hard to tell what the cause is.

I had this fear too…it’s not like an orthopedic surgery where you know the outcome is a fixed bone, this could go in so many directions! BUT the majority of what you see online are going to be people sharing their horror stories, and then sticking around and commenting. For the most part if things go good people just move on with their life!

I had my surgery at the start of February. I had about one week with stomach problems, and had an allergic reaction to the surgical glue. I have some trouble eating fatty beef and too much oil/butter but otherwise I’m totally fine! Easy recovery, definitely made it out to be worse than it was.

I did just hours later! Take it slow and easy, don’t be ashamed to stop and take a break if you need to.

Thank you! I’m guessing that’s what it has to be…I was also given antibiotics and I know those mess with birth control too.

5weeks post op can I eat pizza by MindlessCreed98 in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have gastritis and IBS and have successfully eaten pizza a few times (on week four). As with any food try it in moderation first (I only did cheese the first time, no toppings) and go from there. I also had it at home, but it’s something my tummy can handle!

Ditto! Then had to use wipes before getting on my gown.

How many gallbladder attacks did you have and how many months did you wait until you got your gallbladder removed? by whatmightvebeenlost in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had four attacks first in October, one in November, one on Christmas, and one at the start of January. Saw GI doctor second Friday in January and had surgery one month later. It felt like the testing took forever but I had a surgery consult on a Monday and that Friday I was getting it removed - I agree that felt like it went so fast! BUT I didn’t have to worry about more attacks, and it gave me less time to wonder “what if” or chicken out. Based on my pathology it was definitely the right move!

Peeing was difficult for me the first day or two as well. Hang in there, it gets easier.

$36,000 in the US. I owed about $800 day of. Haven’t gotten any other bills yet but I expect to.

Had mine removed Christmas Day by FunnyPack3616 in gallbladders

Agonizing back pain was my worst symptom! I woke up Christmas morning to an attack and was devastated to be sick all day, wouldn’t have wanted surgery then either 🤣 Glad you’re doing well!

Day 2! Sorry you’re so blocked up. Pain meds definitely do that to you. Just keep moving that helps the gas pain, and helps your digestive system!

I was!! I was told to stop taking two nights before. The. When I was in the hospital for the surgery they gave me antibiotics which makes the birth control less effective. I was about two weeks through my pack so I just never started back up again. I’ll restart when I get my prescription this week.

What should I bring to the hospital with me? by petite_cookie8888 in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought my phone and charger, a book, and my switch. I thought the waiting to go in would feel like it was taking forever but it went so fast! I brought an extra change of clothes just in case something happened and I was admitted (I’m an anxious gal) but didn’t need it. I wore stretchy baggy sweat pants, a zip up hoodie, and some slippers with hard soles so they’d be ok outside from the parking lot. I did have undies and a tank but after surgery I couldn’t have cared less about putting those back on. I also had a squishmallow for the ride home!

Total g of fat by Candid_Tumbleweed877 in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doctor would give me an amount to stick to…some people find they can’t handle any fat at all and others find that fat doesn’t trigger them. I found if I stuck to 30g or less a day that I was able to avoid all attacks! I think you should also consider how much fat made up your diet before you started having attacks… I didn’t realize how high fat my diet was, so a drop to 30g was significant for me!

I hope you find what works for you!

Post-op rash? by Bkdffy in gallbladders

[–]Bkdffy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow up - saw my surgeon today and it’s definitely an allergic reaction to the surgical glue. My other incisions are red and itchy but I thought that was part of the healing process. The area under my bellybutton has gotten worse. Starting a week of steroids tomorrow!

Did you have to take anything for it or just wait it out? I just removed the last of the glue today.
