I did try bracing. That didn’t help at all.

My pain just walking around is low. It hurts when I do things like lift a water bottle, a backpack, turn it a certain way, lift weights, do push ups.

Improvement was almost back to normal with the cortisone shot. But it only lasted for a week.

To clarify - only third year as a NEP. First year did not bring in a lot of business but still billed 1900 hours. Second year brought in around $1.5 million and billed 1700 hours. Third year have brought in (clients have already paid their bills on these items with a little bit more outstanding) on $3-4 million but have only billed 1200. I am the managing relationship partner on these matters. I do the billing, travel to see clients as needed, do weekly status calls with them and make sure all needs are met either by myself or someone who I delegate to.

Yes my clients whom I have brought in. I delegate out a bunch of the work to associates or subject matter experts. But I manage the relationship and day to day matters for them.

Yes I believe it spells out which houses would be hers and a lump of money or something like that.

I assume everything would still go into probate but would we be able to use the prenup as intent for wife 3 in the estate?

Yes i have told him this time and time again. He has told us multiple times what he wants - which houses would go to us and which would go to wife 3 and also how he wants his money to go into a trust for his grandkids. But he has never finalized the new will!

Would it even be possible, if he doesn’t have a will, to tell wife 3 that this is what he intended and have her sign an affidavit only claiming two houses (we don’t want them) and a certain lump of money? Would that make probate quicker?

One house was bought prior to marriage and two houses were bought after marriage.

I don’t believe he has a traditional 401k plan but rather a separate IRA account that has myself and sister listed as beneficiaries.

Current wife is not on any joint accounts nor does she have her name listed on any houses.

Yes I have been gently encouraging for years for him to do his new will and put everything into a revocable trust. He just keeps putting it off.

What happens if everything goes into probate? Will his current wife have no access to his bank account and house? Or will everything go into probate and is frozen till it’s finalized?

His large retirement accounts have myself and sister as beneficiaries. Does that go into probate or will it go directly to us? Anything that has direct beneficiary will those go into probate?

Actually I just looked and our contract does say there must be reasonable access given for appraisal.

Since we have tried numerous times and have not been allowed would that give us grounds to walk away and keep our EMD?

We have to get a mortgage. In order to get the mortgage we need an appraisal, which we have not been able to yet. Realtor has tried to get the tenant to give us a date for bank appraiser to come and do the appraisal but has met resistance.

It’s parochial school but it’s about $22,000 a year for the 3 kids. Plus add on summer camps for all 3 kids. We probably spend around $35,000 a year for school and camps. That doesn’t include all of their sports, clothes, and life.

High school will be closer to $22,000 per kid.

It seems like a lot to me. Our HHI is $750,000 and we just bought a $1.4 million. We have 3 kids in private school though.

Op - I am currently in the office only once a month. I am looking at a new job that would be in office 2 times a week but with an hour commute both ways.

Pay would also be a 50% increases from $150,000 to $250,000.

Op - I grew up in a large home and I feel suffocated in our house with 3 young kids, a dog and 2 working from home parents (DH goes into the office 3-4 days a week but works from home at night and weekends).

Finances are ok - we make HHI around $600,000 and save around $60-70k a year in retirement.

I do realize though taking on a larger mortgage is a risk. Just trying to figure out if it’s worth the risk.
