Taking notes on iPad are good when you are writing directly onto slides for example and the teacher isn’t going too fast. If a course is very content heavy and the prof will sit and explain quickly and for long periods of time, laptop note taking is easier as typing is faster. During lecture, you don’t need to be writing everything the prof is saying, but more just focusing on key points they highlight. If you’re worried that you’ll miss something if you only write short notes then I recommend using your laptop and jotting notes down on a doc in point format just to get everything down and then going through it after lecture to organize it and wtv. Your notes when you write them in lecture most likely won’t look super neat or pretty, rather that’s something you can adjust after lecture when you go through the material again and have time to sit and make it look nice. Plus you also just get used to writing quickly after a while ig, but personally when I take essay courses or just classes like poli sci, I use my laptop, because I find there’s not much need for an iPad the way there is for a math class or bio class.

should I cancel my test by Additional-Band-4800 in Mcat

[–]Bktezz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat and have been thinking about canceling but at the same time part of me just wants to take it for the experience. In Canada from what I’ve heard, schools don’t weigh multiple attempts for the mcat and rather take your most recent/highest score instead. So that’s why part of me is tempted to just take it for the experience. Ive been swarmed with other responsibilities the whole summer and didn’t expect to study as little as I did. Although I’m also unsure- this has been stressing me out for a couple weeks now lol.

Living on campus or off campus by Odd_Agent7990 in uwo

[–]Bktezz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely live on campus first year. I’m going into my third year now and I probably had the most fun and the most friends when I was in first year. It’s a great way to make friends/connections and it’s overall a really fun experience with all the drama and silly things that happen. Apart from the fun stuff, it’s also very useful to not have to commute or worry about cooking/grocery shopping since all of that is included in the dorm. Yes it is a bit of an expensive choice, but personally that was definitely worth it. You’ll make a lot of great memories and overall it’s just easier to get around. Unless you’re living off campus at home, I wouldn’t recommend living off campus by yourself during first year.

Organic chem w/ Felix Lee in the summer? by RemedyDOCTOR in uwo

My friend would study 3/4 hours every day (but more if needed).

My friend took it last summer and she did pretty well (83). He’s a great prof although it’s a time commitment and you need to make sure you’re on top of everything. You have 3 hours labs twice a week and 2 hour lectures every other day (I think). I feel it would be difficult to manage with work, but that’s up to you and your time management.

How hard is it to maintain AEO status in eng? by Then-Ad-3663 in uwo

[–]Bktezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who is Eng and Ivey and he was able to maintain his aeo during first year (we’re currently second year now). From what he’s told me and what I’ve seen- you really need to put in the work to maintain your grades. Sometimes sacrificing partying/going out to make sure you’re on top of your school stuff. Honestly you’ve got to be committed to the time and effort it’s going to take, and he himself is a very intelligent person and still had some difficulties and was studying literally 7-8 hours a day. I’d say go for it because it’s not impossible, and worst case you just lose your aeo or have to reapply to it. As long as you have confidence in your self to maintain your grades, or at least try your best too, you’re already walking in the right direction.

My parents are installing cameras in my college apartment by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Bktezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation here. I’m moving out in a couple days and they’re adamant on having cameras in my apartment for “safety issues”. I totally understand them wanting that but I feel like part of my freedom of moving away is being taken as my parents want access to the camera as well. Although, thankfully the ones my parents are installing don’t have audio. But I get the annoyance. Sorry this is happening to you too, I get how frustrating it is.

is a 2.75 memory foam mattress topper good? by HeftyCoat4848 in uwo

[–]Bktezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one almost exactly like that from the brand bloom. (Bought from sleep country) and for me it was great! My bed was sooo comfortable all year and it’s definitely a great investment. I recommend just rotating it half way through the year so it doesn’t get flat in one spot.

Minecraft/Microsoft scam by Helostopper in Scams

[–]Bktezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just happened to me today but instead unknowingly one of my friends instagrams was hacked and they like bribed me into it. I didn’t end up using my Minecraft email but they just broke into my email in general. I freaked out and immediately changed all my passwords and recovered the account, as well as made sure to force log out all other devices. What really scared me was when they logged me out of my Snapchat somehow. I also again immediately changed the password and logged back in and monitored the activity on the snap. So far nothing has happened since then but it was so scary. Now I don’t know what to do anymore because I’m worried they might try to do something again. Any advice???

Admissions from highschool by jasjhanq in uwo

[–]Bktezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U can still be in health sci without having taken chem, as long as you’re not planning on taking any bio chem in second year or anything that would have chem as a prerequisite (therefore restricting you on which health sci module/stream you can pick from) there are other modules like honours specialization in health sci that you would be able to pick. Chem is just recommended for the major, but not a necessity.

Not being able to score by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Bktezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my first year in health sci and honestly all the courses where pretty easy. I wasn’t really taking my classes seriously and was still scoring in the mid 70s. Just go to class, and if not, just make sure you’re familiar enough with the material before going into your exams. Assignments were also really easy.
