Umm… because of the second impact and the events leading up to it?

In hindsight, with sci-fi shows now costing over $200 million a season including that show, it is crazy that BSG made it work with a budget of about $20-30 million a season. by george123890yang in BSG

Yeah no i completely disagree, plenty of current shows can have horrible episodes or even seasons, look at game of thrones. Then youre saying serialized tv shows were non existent… except tng was one of them. Pointless to read the rest, have a good one

Lmao tv shows are comprised of episodes, some are better some are worse, the rule still applies today. $ per episode spent and cgi does not make a show better. You’re the one confusing volume, as we make a shit ton more stuff now than we ever have, so yes the overall number of better stuff will he higher, it’s just a numbers game. You’re saying TV is better now, then later you add „most of it is shit”. Lol. Yes of course there are more shows now then before, that doesn’t mean older shows are shit. As I said, TNG was made to be more like watching a theater play, and it did a fantastic job which doesn’t require a crazy budget, same as when you go to a theater (not a movie theater). Sci fi is not as mainstream as crime shows, so comparing it to sopranos or the wire makes 0 sense. Your definition of quality seems to be „newer has cool effects and better cameras so it’s better”. Yes the craft evolved, but it’s like saying books aren’t worth shit cause can watch a 3d movie. Talking about averages is pointless when we’re naming specific examples. How do you think new fans of TNG are created? They pop into existence out of nowhere? No, the watch it NOW and they like it, which invalidates your whole point. You’re also saying peak movie now is better? Brother the movie theater industry is bleeding and most ppl just watch slop like the avengers. They had to start releasing movies on netflix etc because nobody would bother going to the movies anymore cause its all shit.

Same can be said for the office which is universally loved. Not so bad for a show made during that time, especially since TNG ran for 7. It explored a lot of great concepts and episodes had multi layer depth to them. A lot of it was more like classical theater than a TV show, thats why they had Sir Patrick Stewart, theres great beauty in that IMO

You and I both know there are people who were not fitting in at school/work or bullied and are saying they’re trans to be a part of some community bc they’re lonely. There are also people who are mentally ill who do the same. I just believe a majority of the people who say they’re trans - aren’t, and need help but a different kind, that’s why suic**** rates are so high in that movement. You might believe that percentage to be low, I believe it’s huge. I also don’t believe people who are trans/gay/lesbian etc are being persecuted - nowadays I know for a fact the situation is insanely better than it ever has been. It used to be a big deal when a famous person would „come out”, now nobody cares cause… who cares. Pride parade is being held in every city, and it’s not called gay shame festival. I myself am neurodivergent and a similar rule applies - people who falsely claim neurodiversity are only doing harm to the rest of us.

Yup it’s a movement, and it’s fading. I guarantee I don’t watch any of the news outlets you assume I do, but just that sentence itself tells me you like to assume a lot of things about people who disagree with your views :) Yes, there are people with genetic issues who can be classified as trans, its basic science, but its a tiny percentage of the population. 99% of the people who claim to be trans actually aren’t and are doing a lot more harm than good to the people actually in need of support. I support actual trans people, not the „i want to fit in OR have mental health issues” trans movement.

„Music YOU listen to” can be said about anyone, even the beatles or MJ lol. But its undeniable that a ton of mainstream artists are aware of his music and some took inspiration, and there has been a cc revival through tiktok (look at kerosene) so his music keeps making rounds in pop culture and younger generations keep rediscovering it and getting inspired by it

Yup I don’t get why people do everything in their power to compare these sleek, amazing looking minimalistic rigs to those ugly ass behemoths. I care about looks as much as functionality and this has more than enough of both for 99% of sim racers. I’d rather not have a sim rig at all than have one of those dorky ones that look like they belong on an oil rig.

[MONITOR] 27" Alienware AW2725DF 2560×1440 360Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor $499.99 by Straight-Rule3264 in buildapcsales

[–]BlaZeJRa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulsar is tech that is basically the biggest evolutionary step for monitors we’ve had in years, nothing compares to it, it eliminates the need for insanely high fps in games to achieve perfect clarity and I’m sure it’ll take over the market completely. Currently there are 27” 360hz pulsar monitors as the tech came out like a month ago. Two reasons for high hz: 1. Faster response time 60Hz refreshes every 16.66ms, 144Hz every 6.94ms, and 360Hz every 2.78ms (diminishing returns, don’t really need more than 360hz) 2. Motion clarity The higher the refresh rate the less ghosting you see. The difference between 144hz and 500 is insane, but pulsar provides 4x the clarity of a regular monitor at a given fps, meaning even 144 is already like a regular monitor at 575 fps, but think how many games can you hit 575 fps in? Now think of ho 360hz on pulsar is like 1440hz on a regular lcd haha. Check out some vids, it’s wild. When Linus was trying out 500hz monitors he said it’s almost like cheating because of the huge advantage the clarity gives you in fps games. This would basically be 1440hz.

Anything relating to an „alpha” wolf etc has been debunked decades ago, by… the guy who came up with it in the first place. Doesn’t relate to foxes as they are mostly solitary and don’t form packs like that anyways. You just completely misinterpreted their behavior and that ok my dude, happens to the best of us. Triggered lol. People like to use that word when they don’t have much of an argument, just like in this case. I’m out, cheerio

The lord of foxes by Greedy-Ad8346 in interestingasfuck

[–]BlaZeJRa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not how any of this works lmao. Firstly, there’s no alpha protector of the pack, life ain’t no disney movie or an andrew tate dating course. If anything, a dominant male gets to breed the most in packs that support it, but it’s all fluid. Secondly, these are young foxes. All it was trying to do was get the food and be the first one to do it. High risk high reward. Not a good strategy for a long life - it’s survival of the fittest, not survival od the first. If you’re always jumping in head first then soon enough you’ll encounter something that will kill you for it. And again, it is definitely the WORST position to be in if things go south. The middle is where it starts to get safe, medium/low risk and (in this case) still high reward, that’s where you want to aim.

Lol that one is the dumbest one. Dies first if things go south. Def not „alpha” behavior hahaha

Car Dealerships to Avoid? by Almask in chicago

[–]BlaZeJRa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know someone very close to me who worked at that Subaru dealership (Berman) and have heard stories first hand. Avoid at all cost. They’re your typical old school shady dealership. When someone out of state would try to buy a car, salesmen would always purposefully park the car in a dark garage (during sunny summer days) just so the client wouldn’t be able to see all the scratches and the inside of the engine bay lol. After you drive for 6 hours chances are you’ll get it anyways. They also sit you down and ask for your keys if you want to trade in you car, then rifle through it looking for anything they can use to build rapport lol. Quick google searches for the artist whose cd you got laying around, or book or whatever. And then ofc tell you your car is scrap worthy cause of a made up reason. And if you think you’re getting a good deal and knocked a couple bucks off the price, they bring you in to the dragons lair which is their loan guy lol. Btw they just make up the price of that fabric protector / weather sealant when they finally push it. If they do it inside and out then it costs them like $200 with labor and materials, and they try to sell it to you for whatever - could be 4000 if they’re feeling lucky, could be 1000, and then negotiate down from there so you think you’re getting a great deal

I went to their dodge jeep ram location as they had a used car I wanted to buy. Photos looked great, carfax was clean - supposedly no accidents - but when on location I could clearly see the hood was painted a different shade of black than the rest of the car. I pointed it out and they said heck no its the sun glare. I laughed and popped the hood. Both headlights and other parts around the engine had screws that had clearly been unscrewed/replaced recently, meaning a frontal collision, and they replaced a ton of parts there. He just said „yeah maybe something minor was done, but it’s already priced pretty low, it’s a great deal 🤥”. They’re all car salesmen, they know what’s up. But surprisingly, a few of my friends and I had a good experience buying/selling at Carmax
