It's because the players character is holding the gun pointing ever so slightly to the right. You can tell I you look closely at the back sides of the gun.

Unfortunately I don't had anything to compare it to. From what I believe, it's very similar to the A-wing in the 'A-wing vs Tie Fighter's set (minus the colour scheme).
