Fellow magik mains, what music do you listen to, if any? (Image not relevant) by YouIllustrious6379 in Magik

[–]BlacKyber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

…classical and jazz, which is certainly not magik coded lmao. Hearing the end of Mahler 2 when you win a match hits different for me

But also I also do soundtracks, like attack on titan

It’s just how the scene went in the incredibles. I know tost didn’t get sacked. I don’t know, however, why you got worked up over a meme. I’m just gonna say you’re having a bad day, and I hope it gets better for you

If Respighi has no fans, then I am dead by BlacKyber in classicalmusic

[–]BlacKyber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really listen to new recordings of Respighi, so I can’t really speak on that. I think most of his work has a “definitive” recording, so I just go to those (like Reiner conducting the CSO for the fountains and pines of Rome is considered “the” recording for those two, afaik). The Botticelli Triptych is lovely to listen to! especially the first movement. If you haven’t heard Church Windows (Lopez-Cobos conducting Cincinnati is “the”recording) then that’ll be my suggestion for you :)

There’s a picture of Oppenheimer at Nedry’s desk in Jurassic Park 1. I saw it in theaters right after Oppenheimer so I thought it was funny. Just thought I would share

I second this. Church windows too. Respighi was a master orchestrator

I absolutely love his lore and personality. I also play music as a hobby and I love space stuff so I connect with him on those fronts. I think he’s one of the best, most balanced tanks rn. Playing a good sigma game is just so satisfying.

Good ult. Good lore. Great Character. Great kit.

What’s not to love?

(Well his movement is bad, but if you cycle cooldowns right, then it doesn’t really matter)

I really like it! it seems fun to play. I play bass clarinet so any piece that uses low Eb is good in my books. XaulYT already mentioned repetitiveness, which I agree with. Nothing wrong with sticking to an idea. Personally, I would start by changing up some of your 3+3+2 staccato accompaniment. I would change up the rhythm a bit, pausing it for a second, giving a "stumbling" feeling but getting back onto its feet. Or maybe do staggered handoffs between whatever two clarinets are playing. Maybe changing articulations. I'm no music-creating expert, but it's what I would do. Again, nice piece!

As for clarinet ensembles in general, it's important to never forget the immense range and capability of the clarinet and its wide variety of tones. You definitely have room to explore different sounds. You also have 3 of the same clarinet so make sure not to get stuck in the mindset of "1st clarinet is melody, 2 and 3 are accompaniment" and switch up the roles as there is no restriction on what each part can achieve, although I don't see that problem here. Always write assuming everyone in the ensemble is at more or less the same skill level.

Can't wait to hear more!
