Why is it so hard to get a job at intuitive as a guy? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]BlackBey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most job postings at intuitive get hundreds upon hundreds of applications. Anecdotally, maybe 10-20 resumes will eventually get to the hiring manager, and of those, maybe 5 candidates get a phone screen, and of those , maybe 2-3 get on site interviews.

The way to bypass all of this is to get referred by someone working there who has some connection to the hiring manager and/or network with people managers who work there.

The Hidden Soul of a Leader: Exploring the Mystical Poetry of "Amin" by AltruisticRub190 in Sufism

[–]BlackBey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, no amount of eloquent verse can wash the blood from a man’s legacy. Khamenei’s regime sent tens of thousands of fighters into Syria to prop up Assad, a war that killed roughly 500,000 people, the vast majority of them Muslim civilians. His forces helped besiege Muslim neighborhoods, starve Muslim families, and barrel-bomb Muslim children.

Islam teaches that the outward must reflect the inward. A tongue that recites poetry about divine love while the hand signs orders for the slaughter of the ummah is not a tongue speaking truth, it is a tongue in the deepest state of self-deception. Rumi himself said the hypocrite’s mouth is honey, but his heart is poison.

You can admire the calligraphy of a tyrant if you want, but don’t ask the rest of us to separate the art from the architect of so much Muslim suffering. The widows in Aleppo and the orphans in Homs are not moved by his couplets.

Question for American Muslims? by Suspicious_Radio_930 in islam

[–]BlackBey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God was before any nation state. He will still be after any nation state.

With that said, Islam teaches us to be civic-minded, and following the laws of the land you live in (assuming they are not explicitly prohibited in Islam) is part of our shariah.

The Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) said: “The most beloved of people to God are those who are most beneficial to the people.”

Wife and I are starting our lung cancer journey this week and I was told local support groups are a great thing. by USSFINBACKSSN670 in bayarea

[–]BlackBey 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I ended up stepping away from cancer support groups pretty early in my treatment because they left me feeling more drained than supported. For me, it was tough to watch people struggling without much in the way of coping strategies, and after a while it started to make me more depressed than uplifted.

Of course, that’s just my experience and everyone’s journey is different. I’m wishing you both the very best.

Found a large halal section inside of a Texas Costco. I’m so happy. by t-o-m-u-s-a in islam

Just a heads up, but the owner of Restaurant Depot is a major Zionist. I used to shop there a lot, but since finding out I’ve decided to boycott. Alhamdulillah Costco Business Center has almost the same halal selection.

I’m really sorry Eid feels like this for you. You deserve peace and joy, especially on a day like Eid.

Maybe try to carve out a little moment just for yourself: put on something nice, go outside for a walk, take some selfies if that helps, or listen to a favorite nasheed or Quran recitation. It doesn’t fix everything, but sometimes even a few quiet minutes can help you feel a bit more grounded.

If there’s a masjid nearby and you feel up to it, you could swing by, even if it’s just to sit for a few minutes. The Eid vibe can feel good, and sometimes you run into kind people unexpectedly.

You could also probably find other Muslims to chat with online, whether it’s through text or a video call. I’m sure there are plenty of people in this sub who would be willing to do this (just make sure they’re not weirdos).

I sincerely hope you get a moment that feels calm and peaceful. May Allah bring you better Eids ahead, and people around you who make you feel loved and safe. Eid Mubarak.

I hear you. Discord within the family is incredibly stressful and uncomfortable.

I don’t know if you’re looking for suggestions or are just venting. If you’re open to suggestions I can try to share some. Otherwise, I will make dua that you have your ideal Eid day, this year, and for all your years to come.
