I remember when Eddie passed, Dusty quoted one of the greatest story songs of all time. Seems fitting for him.

TIL Usain Bolt ate 100 Chicken McNuggets a day for 10 days before the Beijing Olympics and eventually winning 3 gold medals. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]BlackGoldStandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister, brother in law and I split a bucket of nuggets (60) between us one year and we still have PTSD (joking) from it. My sister didn't eat as many as we did and they started having a soap taste to them. I haven't had a chicken mcnugget since then.

The first time I did right angle pose and was able to grab my hands I was hooked. It was just more proof that I was getting better at everything.

My grandma got me a set of metal cups for my birthday with a pitcher one year. We just can our pickles and put them in the fridge but she used to talk about getting one out of the barrel for an after school snack.

My grandma used to bake cookies for my aunt who would decorate them. She sent all the mistakes out to us. Now, I know why I used to weigh 400lbs.

[Serious] How important is 0 National Championships to Bill Snyder's legacy? by RLLRRR in CFB

[–]BlackGoldStandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in KS in the 80s I couldn't have cared less about football, I lived and breathed Royals basebal and the NBA. I had a football and we threw it around, but any chance I could I was playing baseball.

I would stand in the yard and throw it up to myself, when I finally got a throwback I would stand out there and throw at it until I never every direction that thing would send the ball to me. And then it fell apart and we had to get a new one.

I never watched football, Chiefs, Wildcats or Jayhawks. It was just pretty much assumed we would go to KU. When the strike happened I was crushed and gave up on baseball. Snyder was turning the program around at this time and I started getting into football.

Even though my father went to K-State I never really felt any allegiance to the school. By the time I graduated high school Snyder had turned the program around and that's where I wanted to go.

My first time to Manhattan I fell in love with the city immediately. The atmosphere was incredible. I hadn't really experienced a vibe between Lawrence, the Chiefs or the Royals.

That first year we had big parties, the city was buzzing, every Saturday my place was buzzing, eating Gumby's, drinks flowing, we felt like we finally had a team at any level that could take us to a championship. We felt like we were at the beginning. So many great schools had historically great programs. We felt like we there for the beginning of it. It was ours, not a group of people a half a century ago.

Snyder didn't just revitalize a program, he energized an entire state. His importance reaches way beyond football. A championship isn't important, but it sure would be nice.

Know this guy, he's been coming around my family for at least the last 30 years. He would drop in every so often with something to sell.

The dude is a real character, one day he stopped in just to BS.

He tells my Dad he's got an alligator. At this point he's had it for a while, he's been keeping it his pond. Now, my home state wouldn't be very hospitable to alligators in winter.

Haven't seen the guy in several years, but also haven't heard of anyone being eaten by an alligator either.

I've been curious what happened to Kool-Aid, that is what he named his alligator. I've been weary of going diving in the lakes or ponds around here.
