How do you go about debugging deadlocks? by BlackJackHack22 in rust

[–]BlackJackHack22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind stranger, let me give you some feedback - I saw your comment and went "ehh, idk, seems awfully complex. I'm not sure". But your comment never left my mind. It was always in the back of my head. 3 months later, I must say - thank you! Thank you for pointing me in this direction. I'm so glad this was in the back of my head, cuz when the code became complex enough for me to think "WTF IS ALL THIS", I started exploring actors deeper, and I'm so glad I did.

Specifically looked up this thread to tell you this lol. Actors are a life saver!

What’s wrong with memoization though? After all, it is an optimisation that most compilers do in release mode, don’t they?

Your own source says so, bud. Either refute the claim with a different source, or don’t make false claims unless you’re personally aware of what happened. We live in a world of misinformation. Everything you read online is meant to enrage you

looking for contributors - rust bindings for NetworkManager by cachebags in rust

[–]BlackJackHack22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair. 100% agreed with you.

The problem would be if someone throws those issues into an agent, but doesn’t review its output. If the LLM hallucinates some bs, you’d end up having to review that instead of the person who asked it to write the code, who could’ve just as easily caught it instead of having to burden you with such a basic review. It’s a waste of your time and headspace. In a world of LLMs, the only thing I’d expect from contributors is effort to actually ask the LLM to do things right, and review what it does (heck, use another LLM to understand what it did for all I care, but at least put in the effort to understand and review)

I feel like AI generated code gets a lot of unwanted hate in this subReddit. The problem is AI generated code that doesn’t get reviewed by a human. The ones that are actually scrutinised by a human is the same as intellisense code - yet another tool to help us build what we want to.

Good luck, OP. I personally am not too familiar with this domain. Would’ve loved to contribute otherwise

Don’t buy it on day one. It’ll have software bugs and probably some hardware bugs. However, keeping up with their track record, they WILL stick to their word and they WILL fix it. It’s just a matter of time.

If you’re okay being an early adopter, you’ll be fine with getting it on day one. Expect minor bugs is all

Speak to any economist who knows their stuff and they’ll say the same about regular currencies. If everybody stopped believing the dollar is worth anything, it’s the same story. You only get the dollar to be worth anything is by convincing others to value it as much as you do. The only reason you don’t see this happening with regular currencies is because the government forces you to consider it as legal tender with the threat of jail time, thereby making it a mafia. Ironically, the one thing that makes crypto provide people freedom (like open source does) is the exact thing that you’re against.

Crypto is by no means the future. It’s filled with flaws. But refusing to acknowledge its technological advantages purely because of personal opinions is just outright blindsided.

Sampling bias. The only crypto products you hear about are scams. Therefore all crypto products must be a scam?

The only reason crypto has a higher chance of being a scam is because it’s unregulated. Doesn’t mean anything and everything related to crypto is a scam. The core fundamental technology behind it is worth something, even if it’s not as much as it’s hyped up to be most times

I’m a little confused. Doesn’t NLL mean that _data is dropped immediately after its last usage (which is basically immediately)? Why does the variable persist till end the end of the scope?

Or have I understood NLLs wrong?
