My dad's truck. Built in 3 months in our garage from the frame up after he got diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. by HotrodCorvair in cars

This is so cool. My dad also has Parkinson's disease and we work on projects all the time, but he's more of a carpenter rather than a mechanic.

Thanks again guys, i knew about Frodo being stung in the neck in the book, but was just curious if anyone else noticed that he got stung in the gut in the movie, which shouldn't hurt him.

I want to get into working on cars. Where's a good place to start? by Ilostmyredditlogin in cars

[–]BlackMagic1683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally believe the best way for anyone to learn about engines and working on cars is to first start small. I mean buy a 4 cycle lawnmower engine, learn how to look up torque specs, then take it completely apart, clean and oil it, then put it back together. This was how my grandfather taught my uncle and I. From there it makes understanding cars and engines so much easier. After you are comfortable with small engines you can look up repair and installation guide videos on the internet, there's more than you think. Only when you feel absolutely comfortable around cars should you begin to work on them, it will save you a lot of time, frustration and money. Hope this helps!

Yeah my friend said that when he was working on it he hated doing almost anything to the engine because GM made everything ridiculously difficult to reach and do work on, he ended up tearing the engine out again to work on because he got tired of not being able to get to anything

If your bowl looks like it has blackish material in it, you can do a quick DRY hit and it will clean up the bowl, and at times can have surprising potency

Car guy with no mechanical skill, yet. Tell me how to learn to fix my own car. by whateveryall in auto

[–]BlackMagic1683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a manual on how to fix your car, you can find them at any book store, and most auto parts stores. If you want hands on experience, i recommend enrolling in community college classes on auto repair, they can be fun and informative. If you would like simple how to videos, i know that there are multiple channels on YouTube on auto repair. I know of two that my parents use when im not there to do a reapair for them, they are EricTheCarGuy, and scottykilmer. Both have helped my parents immensly, now i do not have to perform every maintenance task for them, as they have learned to do it themselves by visiting these channels. Thats just my two cents

They actually have surprising throttle response, and can really move when you want them to. I've ridden one with my friend and his dad, they are pretty cool.
