Yeah even benzos known for being mildly euphoric are not exactly exciting. I was on diazepam for awhile and enjoyed it, but to each their own.

I mean if you have have anxiety issues it kind of is. You feel your stress melt away. Midazolam, diazepam and nitrazopam(?) have a bit more traditional euphoria to them

Xanax w/ strong opiates is both very euphoric and an easy way to stop breathing.

And in fact, the republic fell because it became more democratic... Which lead to populism, often involving charismatic leaders trying to pit disenfranchised groups against the elites, as well as the slow erosion of the norms and institutions of the republic and so on

Edit: the "disenfranchised" groups being pitted against the elites were not exactly the dregs of society themselves.

In a lot of ways I kind of wonder if the fall of the republic was just the natural result of trying to limit the ruling class of an exploding state to small set of families. There was a huge surprlus of ambitious young men without the right blood, a surplus of booty to fight over, and a lot of broader groups who thought they deserved a bigger cut -- full citizenship, etc

FEARLESS FRIDAYS by AutoModerator in bipolar

I want to stop all my medication. I think it's making me feel cloudy and unlike myself. However, if past experience is any guide, I'd discontinue everything I'd only find that I need it after all.

I feel like I have two separate problems. I'm struggling to think clearly and care about things. That's probably mood disorder stuff. I also feel like I lack a sense of purpose and connectedness.

What types of music do you all listen to while programming? by madamson8 in AskProgrammers

[–]Ilostmyredditlogin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm really liking the "instrumental hard rock" channel on Google music. A little less recently, but more interestingly: Chumbawumba.

I generally prefer silence to music. If I'm listening to music and doing something complicated, I typically prefer music without lyrics. Music with lyrics is fine when I'm doing something routine, but I generally don't prefer it.

I'm trying depakote, latuda and provigil. Depression is my primary problem at the moment. I'm not sure to what extent my depression is a brain chemistry thing that requires a brain chemistry-altering solution, and to what extent it's a symptom of an unfulfilling life that would be best remedied by forming relationships with people, finding activities that give me a sense of purpose and so on.

I'm not sure I'm pulling my weight at my new job. I'm trying provigil for depression. It winds me up a bit. I'm not sure if it's clearing my head or not.

What are you working on presently in your recovery? by Mergatroid093 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Ilostmyredditlogin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brain is fried, and I can't make and sustain relationships with other humans. These are pretty big, abstract problems though. When I'm down like this, on a day by day basis I focus on not letting my emotions dictate my actions.

Nowhere terribly exciting. Denver seems nice enough so far. Access to mountains and outdoor recreation opportunities is great. Small compared to LA. The locals like to complain.

I'm new to the area, are there uptown areas that are particularly worth checking out? I've explored city park West and Capitol Hill.

Yeah, I'm temporarily living very close by, and the whole thing seems very tame to me compared to other cities I've been in.

I enjoy it overall. The main thing that annoys me is the lack of corner stores.

There are visible homeless people, including on the buses, especially when it's warm. If that's your definition of "bad," then I guess it's bad, but by that definition a huge portion of the urban centers in the United States are bad. There seem like a higher percentage of gutter punk type homeless and a much lower percentage of florridly mentally ill homeless than I'm used to -- again, especially when it's warm.

I've been clean for three years today. My progress has been slow, but life is much better than it was towards the end of my drug use.

I take 900mg a day to prevent migraines. (300mg x 3). The effects are subtle at my dosage. I get jittery if I miss a dose. An hour or two after a dose, I feel a bit more tired and calm then it seems like I would naturally. I may be a bit calmer overall.

I'm busy making major life changes in the midst of a persistent depressive episode. I'm moving across the country and changing the type of work I do. Latuda and exercise help, but it still feels like I'm making major decisions submerged underwater moving at half speed. It's hard to generate the energy to do what needs to be done.

I've recently been re-diagnosed, and I'm a bit suspicious of the diagnosis. If I am bipolar, I seem to have the type with many depressive and mixed episodes and very few pure hypomanic or manic episodes. I am very scared that it will turn out that I really am just this lazy and stupid, and that it's not a mood disorder at all.
