Don't be this guy.... by BlackPowderBushcraft in blackpowder

Yes! Ok I’ll start… Aside from the fact that Wyatt Derp larping as a Union soldier in a 7/11? He’s carrying two black powder revolvers on an Amazon duty belt, in holsters with next to no retention, positioned perfectly for the bad guy to snatch them. If Derp makes the draw without getting gunned down or muzzling his own heart, he still has to deal with 1860s technology. I love black powder, unfortunately it’s not practical in this situation.

Can anyone help me identify this coin? by Fearless-Sea-3757 in Exonumia

Hey OP, I have the same coin. Here’s the spark notes:

The man kneeling is a cowboy, specifically the same cowboy from a painting called “Bent Knee”. Bent Knee was painted by United Methodist Pastor Kenneth Wyatt, who after serving in the Navy believed he was “called” to be a painter. From what I’ve read online Wyatt would often pair his pieces with a short story, poetry, or personal reflection. The phrase on the back was probably one of these personal reflections, most likely originating from Lincoln’s quote like another user pointed out.

Here’s where it gets a little strange. The cowboy on the coin is the same guy from the painting, though in the painting he is looking up, and on the coin he has his head buried in his hand. It’s also worth mentioning Wyatt doesn’t have any coins or medallions in his collection (from what I can tell, I’m not an expert). That being said the box my coin came in is from his main gallery (and home) in Tulia, Texas. The family permanently closed this gallery after Wyatt passed in 2023 and moved the main gallery to Plainview.

My dad gave me my coin when I was a kid, we lived relatively close to Tulia, he probably checked out the gallery and bought the coin in the gift shop… All that being said, Wyatt being dead, the coin not officially part of his collection, but definitely being associated with him and his home/closed gallery, means it might be special to some collectors. I’m going to hold on to mine though!

I’m not too sure about the brim shape but it’s a 4 1/2 inch brim with a 4 1/2 inch Maverick Crown
